Reliability Shatabdi express

Hi all ,

beginning of November I want to take to Shatabdi express from Agra Cantonment to New Delhi.
Time of arrival in New Delhi : 22h30 Saturday 01 November
Plan is to jump in a taxi , drive to the airport where my flight departs at 01h55.
Is this a risk ?
Is the train reliable to arrive on the scheduled time ?
All comments are highly appreciated

Reliability of train?

Yes, it is reliable. Even in worst case you won't get delayed by 15-20 mins.

Is this a risk?

Is you are taking a domestic flight then you should be ok.
If you are taking an International Flight then there is a small risk because you have to check-in quite earlier in that case.

It is iffy at best.

Assuming the train is on time, allow 10-15 minutes to exit the station and get a taxi. 45 minutes or so to get to the airport. For an international flight, you need to be there at least 2 1/2 hours before departure time. If the taxi gets a flat or there is some traffic hold-up (unlikely at the time), your plan is at risk.

I would amend the comment on international flight and say "high risk of not making the flight"

Delhi airport is undergoing refurbishment etc in preparation for the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
It is even more chaotic than usual-it took me 50 mins just to get my suitcase X-rayed (which you have to do before check-in) , then check-in ,then passport control and security - about 2hrs 30 mins altogether ,when I left Delhi in May this year.

Your timings are not possible.

I think you have a good chance, & 3 1/2 hours if all goes really well. The train better be on time - We've been up to 40 minutes late(albeit during monsoon). You've got to know how to traverse the absolute zoo at the train station and get a taxi that isn't blocked in or turned in the wrong direction in that world class traffic jam, & be prepared to pay a premium too, cause they'll blow you off & walk away if you try to beat them down - and time is of the essence. After all that, it you do end up really late at the airport - have a handful of desperate stories cooked up that will work to your on going queue advantage with security, the baggage check-in, & your airline terminal manager. I checked indian-rail again and maybe the Punjab Mail train is a safer option : scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 21h15

##Certainly, 2137 is a very good option. But, in case, if you are told that 2137 has got delayed (**most likely, it WILL NOT), then keep 2279 Taj Express in your view:
