Rajdhani and Duronto Express catering services

Hi all, this is Somesh from kolkata. If Rajdhani or Duronto express is running late then whether they provide food services too?? Lets have an example.. HWH-NDLS Duronto is scheduled to arrive at NDLS @ 6:00 a.m., but if it runs 5 hrs late then is there any breakfast is given ??

No.
The fare incudes the fixed meals & thus any delay would not entitle you to extra food. However, I assume if the train started late, you would still be entitled to all the meals applicable for your original itinerary.
Of course, if enough stuff is available, the pantry should be able to provide something on payment.
Finally, the amount of food they provide in Rajdhani is ridiculously huge, so it is more than likely that one can sustain comfortable for extra 5 hrs

Welcome to Indiamike.

We had an experience of reaching too late by Delhi-sealdah Rajdhani during January 1st week, 2009. They served us an additional lunch - just a pack of 'fried rice' only - tasteless and not adequate too.

But I think for 4-5 hours late journey, they 'll do nothing for food.

thanks for proving me wrong. seems like a big relief. i wonder if passengers should carry a copy of this during travel impacted by fog to claim their right...

Travelling on the NDLS Duronto 12259 2AC from Sealdah to New Delhi depart 16.30 arrive next day 11.00.
If and what food/meals (Veg?) do they serve,include drinking water?

Veg and Non Veg Indian style meals are served. Drinking water is also served. Dinner and Breakfast will be included.

Foods are served in Rajdhani and Duronto when they run late. Recently, due to heavy fog in North India, Rajdhani and Duronto used to run late. In one of these occasion, our train (NDLS - Sealdah Duronto) departed from NDLS at about 02.30 a.m. As soon as the train left the station, the catering staff approached to every passenger and asked whether they need any food. And to my astonishment, the passengers, who were there all day in the New Delhi station, ordered the food and at that point of time, they served the passengers with food.

Is this the train dated 6th January you are talking about which was delayed by around 32 hours?

The train, which I have pointed out, reached Sealdah on 30th December 2012.

Umm.. Okay. Train for 6th January also left around 2AM running around 32 hours late.
