Hi,
I'm taking the "Navyug Express" from Mangalore to Delhi an about a week.
Have a confirmed 2AC booking.

Just need to ask a few questions about the food.(its my 1st time going on the railways)

1)Hows the food quality?
2)Is the menu available online or depends on the train itself?
3)How hygienic is the food(in comparison to airline food)?(high chances of getting food poisoning, etc??)

Hi,

The menu is common, but they vary from region to region. For example, in northern part you will get northern food whereas in the southern part the food will have some southern menu...

Few years back there were lot of complains about the food quality. But recently the Railways has taken strict measure to ensure the quality of food. No need to worry...

So, as this train goes from south to north, I'll get South Indian food for part of the journey, and North Indian for part of the journey?

Or south Indian entirely?

Let me clear, the pantry cars that provide food for the passengers of a particular train are run by private agencies, who serve food under the supervision of the Railway authority. There are food inspectors check the quality. Now, if the food supplier agency is from Mangalore, then you'll get south Indian food and if they are from Jammu they there are chances of getting north Indian food.

I've checked the train numbers. It is of Southern Railways, so as per my assumption I think the food supplier is from Mangalore.
