Rail Tickets for Four Years & Under Children
I have had such a trouble getting a credit card that works so I can book these tickets on the IRCTC site. Whew!! Glad that's over!
Now I have my electronic reservation slip in front of me and I'm getting rather scared because I don't see my two littlest ones' names on there even though when planning my trip, I was asked for their names and ages. They are 4yrs and 2yrs old. The only names on the ERS are the 2 adults travelling and my 3 older children 5yrs and older. Is it supposed to be this way because the little ones share a berth with the adult? But then why would they ask for their names and such? One more question: Booking status on ERS is confirmed, but there are not coach or seat numbers listed. Do they give these to you when you check in? Also, do I pick up the tickets in Delhi? Like go to the station and show them my ERS? I am so confused. I would really appreciate any information you could give!! Last edited by Sharmscharms : Jul 2nd, 2009 at 09:33. Reason: more info |

Only when booking for 1st Class AC, I've been asked to enter my children's (both below 3) information. Of course they wouldn't be given a berth/seat. Also for 1st AC, the actual cabin # would be mentioned only at the time of chart preparation (about 4hrs before departure). Hope this removes the anxiety!

once you give the PNR number, your coach / seat number can be seen. In case you have a 1AC ticket, generally there would be only one coach and the chart would be pasted in the train - you can see your seat numbers there too. If you have an e-ticket with you, no need to pick up the tickets. Take a print of the Electronic ticket (in your login, if you go to booked tickets history, there is an option to print the ticket). Carry the print of the ticket with identity proof of any one passenger (driving licence, passport, PAN card etc). |
