Dear vij4all,

Without any second thought, ask your friend to attempt Tatkal Booking on the morning of 2.10.2009 at 8.00 hrs. in the PRS Counter and deliver the ticket to you, when you get down from Jhelum!!!

This is what the status is now..help me understand one thing..suppose im at the same waiting list 15 & 16 and also miss booking tatkal tommorow early and land up wth a wait list on tatkal too..is that a parallel wait list or does it get merged with this one? in which case does it follow the first in first out rule? a little confusing for me unless tatkal means a separate coach with all the seats in teh coach dedicated only for tatkal..in which case there would be 2 wait lists...

Dear vij4all,

##You CANNOT get into the Train, if the status of your ticket, whether "Normal" (or) "Tatkal", remains in in Waitlist when Charts are finalised; and Charts are finalised approximately four hours before the scheduled departure at the Station, where Charts are finalised.

##Tatkal Waiting List and General waiting List are different.

What are the possibilities of this ticket getting confirmed?

Post your waitlist Will It Get Confirmed queries here ONLY

And please, think of others, how can anyone work out your chances if you don't indicate the class you've booked.

I think you stand a good chance of getting at least one confirmed berth and one RAC at the minimum. If you are anxious to get confirmed berths only then on 23rd morning book on TATKAL for the train, and if getting confirmed berths n TATKAL, you can cancel this ticket for a minimum charge, PROVIDED THE GNWL is not confirmed by then! ##Please note that RAC will NOT there before certain RLWLs for any class, more so, when the earmarked quota is less.

##Please note that, we need to know under which RLWL, this particular booking falls (or) from which Station this RLWL starts.

Dear Mr VSP Sir,

Thanks for pointing out in detail. I based it on my experience on Sunday 18th 2674 when I was holding 2SL GNLWL 266 and CQWL (Tatkal) 99 for CBE-MAS for my cousin sister. When chart was prepared, both got confirmed, and I learnt after her arrival in MAS that the train had nearly 10 berths empty in her coach ! And that too the train was leaving just after Diwali in South India, with people wanting to travel that night to attend offices on Monday 19th! But as always I defer to your pointing out the position.

Even as I defer to your experience and knowledge which is vast in scope and depth, I have only said you stand a 'good chance' and not that it will get confirmed. That said, I again defer to you, and I am learning from you a great deal. And that's not flattery, nor buttering you up. In fact you helped me to hold on to the tickets I mentioned, when you said " let's hope that the charts of 2674 are prepared before the departure of the bus!" That I lost a few buck here and there in cancellations after chart preparation was worth the comfortable journey that my coz sis had ! Sir, Good wishes.
