Dear Swapnil,
How RQ quota can co-exist with GN ,CQ ,PQ at source station ? Wouldn't all these (3)quota will take care of every reservation booked for journey from source station ? ##By CQ, did you meant Tatkal Quota? If so, the Quota Code is CK, please!!!! ##Basically, the RQ is maintained for a very limited Quota existing at a particular Intermediate Station and covers only the passengers travelling from Originating Station to that particular Intermediate Station. ##I have seen Request Quota Waiting List (RQWL) for the passengers intending to travelling from Hyderabad to stations short of Balharsha, at the most both for SL and AC Classes in those days. ##When I booked my ticket by 2430 for my journey from Nizamuddin to Kazipet, the status RQWL.3/Confirmed., because the NZM-KZJ was very limited. Please look at this: ------ 2430 BANGLORE RJDHNI 22-06-2009 H NIZAMUDDIN KAZIPET JN GENERAL S.No. Date (DD-MM-YYYY) Class - 3A Class -2A 1 22- 6-2009 AVAILABLE- 0004 AVAILABLE- 0002 2 23- 6-2009 WL 7/WL 7 AVAILABLE- 0002 3 26- 6-2009 AVAILABLE- 0003 AVAILABLE- 0002 4 27- 6-2009 AVAILABLE- 0004 AVAILABLE- 0002 ..................... ##If the above 'limited quota' gets exhausted, the passengers will be placed in RQWL and, to the best of my knowledge, they would get confirmed, only when there are cancellations from the earlier confirmed bookings within that Quota. ##So, if you ignore RQWL for a while, you will have, basically, three Quotas that cover the Passengers fromn Originating Station, namely, GENERAL QUOTA (GNWL), Pooled Quota (PQWL) and Tatkal Quota (CKWL). ##If the General Quota gets exhausted for any reason, then the system will tap the vacancies in Pooled Quota for end-to-end passengers. ##Please keep your further doubts ready, I will try to clear them when I meet you in Pune.:-) |

Congratulations on passing 2000 posts VSP, your help to indiamike members is invaluable, and we are very fortunate to have you as a member.
And as I've said before, my knowledge of Indian Railways wouldn't be half as much if it wasn't for your help. I look forward to your 10,000th post. |

Hello Springs and welcome to indiamike.com

I'm just a simple tourists, and the great thing about being a simple tourist is that can remember the things I wanted to know, and how complex Indian Railways can seem, so I think this helps me explain things in a way tourists understand. |
