Any idea when the chart will be prepared?

And is there no RAC in this quota?
And can I take a ticket from end to end with the boarding point as inbetween station?

Thanks,

**There will NOT be RAC in Pooled Quota.

**The Charts will be finalised anytime after 13.35 hrs. on the day of departure in Kakinada Town, because the scheduled departure of 7210 in Kakinada Town is 17.35 hrs.

Thanks Aishah.

I think a lot of the pressure of travelling through India is released if a person understands the railways and their waitlists.

I agree - and taking the time to read your information, not just about the Waitlists too, is a big help for allaying one's fears of how to get about on the station and into that train and what to expect inside it! As you say, the more one knows, the easier it is.

Hi,

I have read your extensive and helpful guide but I have one question which I cant work out. If I book in First Class, and I am WL3, am I waitlisted number 3 only for 1st class or am I third in line for any ticket going on the train ?

Sorry if this is covered but I cannot get a clear answer on this.

Many thanks

Thanks for the reply. Well, I am now wl3 and wl4 ( my wife) but for 1st class ac and we are willing to travel in most classes. Can I book in multiple classes on the same train or will the system not allow this? I am trying to get on the hampi express from hospet to Bangalore this Friday .I really don't want to hurt my chances of getting on by waitlisting only in the highest class. Have you been in this position before and what would you suggest? Thanks again

##Honestly speaking, I virtually hate to buy Tickets with waitlisted Status, and normally, I never go below RAC, because my intention is always to "complete" the journey without any interruptions.

##Coming back, you can try your luck for any other class in the same train!!!

Discrepancy in the cancellation refund section.

Hi Steven,

I feel there is a discrepancy in a section of your article. The section of your article that I refer to is

==============

What if my ticket is still waitlisted after the reservation chart has been prepared?
If you buy your WL ticket on the net and it’s still WL when the chart is prepared, IRCTC will automatically refund your money to your bank account, RAC gets you on the train, so no refund.

There can be a lot of waitlist movement on the last day and when the chart is prepared, sometimes more movement than the whole of the last month, so don’t just assume that a waitlist number is too high to become confirmed, and the ticket cost will therefore automatically get refunded, see the examples in the ’hidden quotas’ explanation later.

=====================

Now onto the discrepancy, I didn't get an automatic refund of our WL tickets which were WL even when the final charts were prepared. I have waited for a month for the automated refund and upon calling the railways callcenter, I was informed that no refund would happen in my case as I haven't cancelled the WL within 6 Hrs. of the train's actual departure. I was travelling Nizamuddin (Delhi) to Amritsar. I stand losing 3K INR and I hope you correct that particular section to avoid other readers losing their money. Now I intend to go the Ticket Deposit Receipt route to avail any refund that might be possible.

Readers can have full details at this link
http://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/bv60....cehidfhfdfgk.0
For those can't access the link, browse to the 'cancellation procedure' section of the irctc website for full details.

Thanks,
UniTz

Dear UnitZ,

##The names of the E-Ticket holders, whose status does not moves either into RAC or Confirmed during Charting, will NOT appear even in the Waitlist Charts, which means they automatically GOT cancelled.

##For example, there are 20 people whose tickets do NOT get confirmed during Charting. If those at Sl.No.5,12,17 happen to be E-Ticket Holders, then the List goes like this:

WL.1 Name
WL.2 Name
WL.3 Name
WL.4 Name
WL.6 Name
WL.7 Name
WL.8 Name
WL.9 Name
WL.10 Name
WL.11 Name
WL.13 Name
WL.14 Name
WL.15 Name
WL.16 Name
WL.18 Name
WL.19 Name
WL.20 Name
----
##This is the procedure. I do not know why there was a deviation in your case is a different case that is to be probed.

##Please have a look at the following link:

http://www.irctc.co.in/etktcanc.html

##Only those passengers who are in Confirmed/RAC/Partially Confirmed need to apply for Refund ON-Line, when they have to cancel their tickets after Chart Preparation. But there is
