| The detail on the ticket is: Me: /confirm/A1/0046/SL My Wife: /confirm/A1/0024/SU My Daughter: /confirm/A1/0044/UB Actually with your help I have worked it out. We are in carriage A1 and we have seats/berths 46, 24 and 44. Given that 44 and 46 are very close I can swap with my wife and she can have 46 and then we can try and swap me into 43 or 45. There was no option for a first class sleeper on the train from Jaisalmer to Delhi. It does say coach No on the ticket but you are correct, no 41, 42 etc. It's carriage A1. Given this, and given that we will have been in India for a few weeks by then I think we should be fine with this. I'll also see what IRCTC say. Mind you, if you want some irony: the bank just put a stop on mt credit card after booking this and I had to ring them to unblock it. I don't mind as one does have to be careful ![]() DS |

| Just a sidenote, asking people to provide their PNR number is asking them to tell in public exactly when and where they'll be at a given point in time and space. That's up to everyone themselves and/but while the risks may be small, I think as a matter of principle it's a good idea to not entice them to get quite as precise, and/or to educate them in being a little careful in what they choose to share on something as public as the web. (Think of a poster whose post history may show them to be an insecure and perhaps a little naive young lady -- or naive young or older man or whatever for that matter, fill in the dots -- on a first trip to India, carrying a laptop and a state-of-the-art camera, perhaps in some discussions having disclosed pretty accurately where they keep their money. You can probably see how the issue might not be a totally innocent one. Certainly not when some Indian members even unabashedly tell us they like to know by the seat preparation charts where the ladies are seated on a given train! Probably mostly to serve their own immature fantasies if you ask me, I mean what could they realistically do with that information, but still.)Generally and to answer e.g. a waitlist query, it would suffice (and indeed cannot be answered without it) to know what train, from what station to what station (I guess the arrival station is in fact not even very relevant?), on what date, and in which train class. That's getting pretty close already as it is anyway.

| No apologies, Mr. Murli. Just keeping our/my i's dotted ![]() Really like your contributions to these train (as well as other) threads, for that matter. I personally just can't answer a lot of the nitty-gritty of it, and am forever in awe of some of you guys who diligently do. Keep up the good work! ![]() |

| I got a reply from ICRTC and they suggested talking to other passengers about swapping seats too! That looks to be the best option. Thanks for the help. DS |

| I had bought 3 tatkal tkts for today's journey on Hampi Express SBC-HPT (#6592). AT that time, all 3 were waitlisted, but today 2 got confirmed. So I decided to print it out, but the printout version shows the same original WL status. The printout clearly states Booking status/Current status/CoachNo/Seat NO CKWL 2/CKWL 2/0000/ CKWL 3/CKWL 3/0000/ CKWL 4/CKWL 3/0000/ So how can I carry the proof that I KNOW 2 tkts have moved from WL to CNF?. Also, online, even though it says CNF for 2 tkts, it has not assigned any coach/berth. Can anyone throw some light on this? Thanks, NIB |

##The Hampi departs from SBC at 22.30 hrs; and hence, the Final Charts will come out at or after 18.30 hrs., but certainly before 20.30 hrs. ##You can check the status of your PNR at the following link: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/pnr_stat.html ......and then, you have to take the print-out!!!! | |
