Hi,

I am new to this forum and found lot of information on travelling in India.
You all folks are doing a great job by sharing all the information.

This is an easy one !! or may be tough for persons like me
I would like to know the coach and seat numbers for person of four travelling in CLASS: 1A via following trains

Train (2429): SBC(Bangalore) - NZM(Nizamuddin) (Rajdhani Express)
Train (2650): NZM(Nizamuddin) - YESVANTPUR(YPR) (KTK SMPRK K Exp.)

I am not aware of the coach/seat numbers given.
I just need examples.
Needed for developing a program.

Any reply is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Avinash

I'm not realy sure what info you require, but here's some basic stuff from an article I'm doing for indiamike about train classes.

A full 1A carriage has 3 x 4-berth cabins, 2 upper and 2 lower berths in each, and 3 x 2-berth coupes, 1 upper and 1 lower, a 1A/2A combination carriage has 2 x 4-berth cabins and 1 x 2-berth coupe.

Full 1A carriage.

1A/2A combination carriage.

Lower berths are approximately 200cm X 82cm, Upper berths are about 190cm X 70cm.

When purchasing a confirmed First Class air con ticket, you will only see ‘CNF’ on your ticket, there will be no carriage or berth number, carriage and berth positions are decided when the reservation chart is prepared (a few hours before the train’s departure).

What kind of program are you developing?

Hi Steven,

Thanks for your reply.

I like to only know the coach/seat numbers allocated for class 1A in normal and rajdhani express train

eg: For 3A, we would get the seat/boogie numbers as CNF/B1/0020
For IInd class, we would get the seat/boogie numbers as CNF/SL/0020

Similarly I like to know the boogie/seat number that could be allocated for class 1A in normal(trains which normally have one or two 1A coaches) and rajdhani trains.

Any example is acceptable.
This need to be four passengers.

In 1A, you only get CNF on your confirmed tickets, then when the reservation chart is prepared you get 'Cabin B' (for example) written next to your name, you don't even get a number in that cabin (in my experience), the TTE then comes and shows you what berth number you've been allocated in that cabin.

It's likely all 4 passengers (if booked on the same PNR) would be allocated the same cabin, but this doesn't always happen.

I know, it's a strange system.

What kind of program are you developing?

What kind of program are you developing?

I've travelled on the Bangalore Rajdhani (and many others), but not the Sampark Kranti, though it's the same procedure for all trains with 1A.

What kind of program are you developing?

I ask for good reason, I know a few people who've developed (or are developing) many different programs for various aspects of Indian Railways (searching, booking, etc.).

Hi Steven,

Thanks for your concern and that a good news.
For policy reasons

I won't be able to disclose this. I am sorry for that.

I need only the following information

I got a ticket in Rajdhani express 1A and the chart is prepared.
What will the coach number/seat number

eg: CNF /<Coachnumber> / C

C --> As i understand will be the cabin for four.

What would be the coach number. Do you have any idea about that.
Is it possible for your to recollect your coach and seat number when you have travelled last time in 1A

Just examples.

Also it would be grateful if anyone could share the coach number for SMP Kranti or any normal train for 1A class.

Else option left is for me to go to station at the dept of the train and get those information

Regards,
Avinash

H = 1A carriage
HA = 1A/2A combination carriage.

Coach number will be either H1, and rarely H2, or HA1. (it's the same for all trains, Rajdhani, Sampark Kranti or any Mail/Express train)

There will be no seat number, just cabin letter.

CNF/H1/B (for example, though I'm sure it had 'Cabin B' on the chart, damn, I used to have a full reservation chart, but I lost it).

1A are sererate compartments either for 2 or 4 people {that is they have a door which can be locked like a seperate room} so at the time of booking no seat is alloted
the final chart is prepared a few hrs before train dep
you can view the notice board or the chart is displayed near the door of your compartment
the reason being is ladies are grouped with ladies but if you book together then you get a compartment for your self
this matching is done by a computer

Query abt 1st class

Hi Steven,

I was planning to book a 1st class coach in Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express. Can you tell me whether the 1A/2A combination coach is attached with that train or it has a standard 1A coach only.

I want to book a 1 x 2-berth coupe.

Hoping to hear from you soon.
Cheers

First AC availablity in 4033 jammu mail between Delhi and Pathankot

Hi,

I am new to Indiamike. I saw this post, I have a similiar query. I am planning to travel from Delhi to pathankot by 4033 Jammu mail in First AC. While checking the indian railways site I found that there are 13 seats in first AC in this train if travelled the entire route(from delhi to Udhampur) but for travelling from Delhi to Pathankot its showing only 4 seats. I guess there is some quota of only 4 seats from Delhi to Pathankot.
I would be travelling along with my wife.My question is is there any way by which I can ensure that I get the 2 seat coupe? I mean that since there are only 4 seats available for booking between stations delhi and Pathankot would they be alotting in that way?
I saw in some similiar posts that reaching the station early and reaching out to the station manager can help. Can somebody please elaborate in case they know the procedure?
It would be very helpful for me in case I get a quick reply because I have to do the booking on 21st of September, if there is no gurantee of 2 birth coupe I may plan for 2nd ac.Please reply

The train must have a full 1A carriage as there are only 10 berths in the 1A section of a 1A/2A combination carriage, and a full 1A carriage has 3 x 4-berth cabins and 3 x 2-berth coupes, so your chances of a coupe improve.

I suspect your chances would improve further if you booked all the way to Jammu, but that's only a guess.

You can go to the station the day before and officially request a coupe, you have to give reasons for this and fill out a load of paper work, and this still doesn't guarantee a coupe, I done it once and it worked, but we had a baby traveling with us.
