Hi,

Love the train info posted here, it has helped me so much. My question is:
I am trying to get from Jaipur to New Jalpaguri. I have booked a 2A berth on the 5631 BME GHY Express for the 17 Nov 08. I am currently sitting at WL19/WL11. Do you think I will be confirmed?
My backup plan is that I have also booked a 1A seat on the 9105 Haridwar Express for the day before which gets me to Delhi. This seat status is RLGN WL1. From Delhi to New Jalpaguri I have booked a 2A seat on the 4084 Mahananda Express where my status is WL3. Do you think that I stand a better chance with my backup plan?

Hello Mick, sorry, but I've no time to look into this (see below post).

Try looking to see if the station before Jaipur is on a different quota, or see if the part of the train that comes from Bikaner has more chance of a confirmed berth in in 3A.

What about the Rajdhani or North East Express from Delhi, have they any Foreign tourist quota? (I don't think the NE has)

What about booking Tatkal for 5631? (You'd have to book from Barmer to Guwahati (though you can change your boarding station to Jaipur), and you'd pay the Tatkal charges, but if the train is suitable....

If you go to Delhi for a train, you shouldn't worry too much about waitlists, a taxi to Delhi would't cost a lot more than 1A, and the roads are really good, the taxi will be faster and more reliable than the train, a bus to Delhi is another option.

I have booked an AC 3 tier tkt from HWH to YPR , train# 2863 for 17th Nov. The current status is W/L 7. Any chance of getting confirmed?

Thanks Champ, very much appreciate your feedback. I have been lucky enough on the Delhi leg as it has now been confirmed. I am going to cancel the Jaipur leg and just jump on a bus...it arrives in time to give me an hour change over.

The class is 1A. What are my chances of getting a berth and seat? What alternative(s) do I have?

Normally, the SMBs, if not fed into the System, will be utilised to clear RAC and GNWL.

There are 12 SL Coaches in 2863/2864 (**I have seen 2864 on 14.11.2008 when it was getting out of VSKP Station, and hence could not notice whether it had got SMBs or not).

Assuming that there are SMBs in all the 12 SL Coaches of all the Four Rakes deployed for operating 2863/2864, there will be only 108 extra berths. I am damn sure all these 108 extra berths will be utilised to clear Tatkal.

I cannot get a TAKAL or a seniou reservation (I am 60 y.old) because of... plus, I am not in India right now and fly in on Dec 2nd.

How do I do this on line? Do I purchase another ticket - in 3A and keep both until the "last minute"? Or??

##You need to purchase this ticket on-line only if you are feeling insecured with your IA-Ticket.:-) & and cancel one of them before the Final Charts are taken out, which happens 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
