Folks could you help in deciding which WL has a high chance of clearance?
A) 12951 Mum Rajdhani: 16th May, 1AC - WL23, 18th May WL13
B) 12953 Aug Kran Raj: 16th May, 1AC - WL6, 18th May WL9
C) 09003 Rajdhani Spl: 16th May, 1AC - WL7
D) 12263 Pun Duronto : 18th May, 1AC - WL15, 2AC - WL89

2AC WL in all the above trains is very high, hence looking in 1AC.

My first preference is Pune Duronto. Can someone help me decide which tickets I should book?

12953 should confirm, as Western Railways has augmented it with an extra 1A coach recently. The Pune Duronto is very unlikely to confirm, it has only one 1A coach of 18 berths, and you would know that when there are 18 berths available in total, expecting 15 cancellations is waaay too optimistic.

@sridhar spl, I think it is difficult to get the tickets confirmed. If you are okay with RAC, I think all may get RAC.

If RAC is not okay go for Tatkal.

Is it really confirmed about additional 1A coach for Aug Krnt Rajdhani. If it is, then that will be great. I hope my WL gets cleared a day in advance, then I can plan my Pun-Mum trvl to catch the traing frm Mumbai.

i have booked 3 tickets online on 12th may 2012 in sachkhand express for the travel date 29th may 2012 from aurangabad(maharashtra) to agra. I have got pq wl 3/pq wl 3,pq wl4/pqwl4,pq wl5/pqwl 5. I have gone through your article regarding waiting lists. But what is pq wl stands for? And is the waiting list gets clear daily as per the cancellations or it gets cleared at the time of preparing chart. Can i book tatkal tickets before 5 days. We are planning to go to kashmir at our own. Can u suggest any plan.

This is as per this note on indiarailinfo.com. It is usually accurate, with occasional errors. But I can't confirm this for sure.


I will be very surprised if (1) confirms. (2) stands an average chance (There are two 2AC coaches in this Duronto, I travelled by it myself recently). The SL ticket too is a borderline case. I'd suggest Tatkal in 3AC on the Duronto both ways as a better bet.

PQWL = Pooled Quota Wait List. This is for passengers travelling from (a) The train's origin to an intermediate station (b) an intermediate station to the end (c) an intermediate station to another intermediate station. Of the many waitlists, PQWL is the least likely to confirm. I presume you're travelling Sleeper Class? If yes, this should probably be okay. The Waiting List position will change both (a) immediately when somebody cancels a ticket and (b) when the train's chart is prepared.

Wrt your last question, tatkal can be booked *one* day before the train leaves its originating station.

tatkal can be booked only 1 day early starting at 8 AM

Can you kindly provide the exact information/s as obtained from the official website.
Source-Destination combination along with the current Waitlist and Running Waitlist number is very important while predicting PNR's. (Along with date of journey and train name/number)

Anyways, the safe bet should be to try tatkal for 2AC/3AC in any of the above trains.

Can anybody tell me how many 2A coaches are there in Rajdhani trains and how many berths are there in a 2A coach...thanks

every Rajdhani train has different number of 2A coaches... so which Rajdhani Exp do you have in your mind?
i guess a 2A coach has 54 berths...
