Train 12414 has only half a first class coach which has only 10 berths.

Only a certain number of these seats will be released for the sector you want to travel. Others will be held back for other sectors of the route, such as people who wish to travel on beyond Delhi.

EDIT _ It is still possible that your WL1 ticket will confirm but this might not happen until charting, around 3 hours before departure. There is another Delhi train (12426) which leaves an hour and a half later and at the moment has 2 x 2AC and 2 x 3AC vacancies in Foreign Tourist Quota on 11th April.

You can only book FTQ tickets in person at a limlted number of counters. When do you get to India?

I get to India on the 03/04/12 so I will try to book this as a back up. Thanks so much Dave W

I have booked a ticket in 12302 Kolkata Rajdhani from New Delhi to Howrah in 3AC. I am currently waitlisted at WL169/WL84. My train is on 1st April.
Can someone tell me what are the chances of the ticket being confirmed ??
I will try to book a Tatkal ticket of 2AC or 3AC on 31st morning and if luck is with me, I could get a confirmed ticket then. I plan to cancel this current ticket then. That is the reason I wanted to know if this waitlisted ticket would get confirmed ??

I had booked a tatkal ticket to Ajmer from Mumbai today morning and earlier i got CKWL waitlist 8 but after almost 10 minutes the status changed to W/L 6 .

Train timing is 14:10 tommorow , so in case ticket doesn;t gets confimed by today 18:00 and i cancel it , How much deduction will happen ??????

And after deduction will i get tatkal charges back ?????

wl8 is your entry point in the queue. after/during/before your booking, 2 cancellations have happened in talkal (CK) quota, so your current status is wl6.

it is difficult to predict the chances of confirmation unless the train details are provided (which might give a clue on availability). i did not find any train leaving at 1410!

if you cancel while tkt is in wl status, they only deduct 20 rs for providing the (unused) service.

Thanks for your reply, well my actual doubt was that earlier it was showing CKWL 8 and then it showed WL 6,So does it mean that i have moved to General waiting List or i am still in Tatkal waiting list.

As per my knowledge crowd on this route is less and train ends at Ajmer only . But still would like to know about the chances of confirmation as i will have to move to mumbai from pune today evening

you are still in tatkal (CK) waiting list - there is no movement to GN waiting list. only at chart preparation (after considering all cancellations), GN & CK WL is considered. i have heard that CKWL gets priority over GNWL, but i have also heard otherwise...

you have not mentioned the class, i assume it is 3a. i think you have a decent chance, but i might suggest keeping your fingers crossed...

The availability shows as WL22/WL19.

Wanted to check if there is any chance of them getting confirmed ?

I need to travel from NZM to YPR on 31/3. I had booked 2 tickets around 10 days back. One is in 12430 Bangalore Rajdhani and the other one in 12650 Karnataka Sampark Kranti (both in 3A). At the time of booking, status in Rajdhani was WL 32 and now it is RAC19. In Sampark Kranti it was WL26 and now it WL18. Is there any chance of either of them getting confirmed or should I try for tatkal tomorrow?

based on http://indiarailinfo.com/train/1333 there are 4 2a coaches (but only 90 seats comprise gn/ck out of 180), so rac19 is as good as confirmed. if i were you, i'd cancel sampark kranti (unless price is an issue, as the other option is almost twice as expensive) & not bother about tatkal.

What are my chances of getting a confirmed ticket for 3AC (WL 50) for a ride from Kanyakumari to Jammu on 20th of April (No. 16317)?

sorry, my mistake about confusing 3a & 2a...

you chances are even better with 3a - your train has 8 3a coaches, meaning 512 seats, out of which gn/ck quotas take up 350 or so, rac 19 has very very high chance of confirmation.

usually railways keep a lot of seats for other quotas, including intermediate stations, emergency, foreign tourist, etc. & these get released at chart preparation.
