Hi again!Thankyou for the enlightening responses.This forum is very helpful especially for people uneducated about the indian railways(like me).In three days my pnr status has moved from 14.More than two weeks still left before the 17th arrives.Do you guys think the odds are better now?This predict from the Pnr exercise sure seems similar to gambling.I hope i don't get addicted.Anyways here's the updated pnr status.

thanks steven ber. i finally booked my first train from GADJ. i found loads of tickets on a particular day and it means no long horrible journeys after a long horrible flight from sydney.

Hii i want to travel from Yevantpur to Duvvada (Andhra Pradesh) in train no.12253 ( YPR - Bhagalpur) Express on 03-12-2012. The current booking status is WL 85. Could i expect a confirmed berth on that date if get my reservation done at the current status?

I purchased 2 tickets for the Marudhar Express #14866 from Agra to Varanasi on January 4th, 2012 at 21:20. One of the tickets is A133/Confirmed, the other is RLWL - 1. I know it's impossible to say with any certainty but is there a pretty good chance my wife and I will both get on this train? I bought two tickets (both confirmed) for the following day just in case, but we're really hoping that we can get on this train on the 4th. Does the fact that we're holding one ticket that is already confirmed increase our chances of both getting on? Thanks in advance to anyone out there who replies. -Greg

It looks like the AC2 quota for Agra to Varanasi on this train is very small. The highest availability I can spot over the 90 day window is 1. RAC status does not seem to appear in AC2 on this train.

You have a fall back position and have time to see what happens. Maybe one of the experts on this site can work out a more positive scenario for you.

@ravivarmasagi6: You didn't mention class without which it won't make sense. Assuming it is Sleeper, most likely not to get confirmed. Also Not an ideal train for this stretch. Which ever train you book, book till VSKP.

As far as I can make out the AC2 general quota from Agra to Varanasi on this train is only 2 berths. This doesn't look great for WL2+3. On the other hand there is an HO quota of 6 berths in 2AC and this doesn't seem to be getting fully booked. If these get released you could be OK. If it does get confirmed this way it would be last minute.
Maybe a back up plan would be worth having.
