Your position has already improved to WL 4+5+6+7. As it is nearly 3 months until travel date there is chance for you to improve further. This train is listed as having only one a/c 3 coach so if you confirm you should all be in the same coach.
If you wanted to be certain of travelling there is plenty of availability in Sleeper.

we do not want to travel in sleeper as it would be really cold and my mother has a tendency to catch cold(happened once before)
if it doesnt confirm till the first week of december, we'll have to go for a flight

Of the lot, the last one would be the best bet. While WL1 and WL2 are always good numbers to have (For the first PNR), this is First AC where only 4 seats are available in the first place (Either two need to cancel or seats reserved for officials should be released to the public if no officials travel)

The second seems rather pointless to me, seeing that you have tickets for a more comfortable class (2A) for the same day, which are in a better position too.

You will definitely be allowed to board the train. Two people need to cancel their tickets in order for both of you to get berths. If not, both passengers will have to share a berth. However in all probability you'll get confirmed berths.
