##The PRS, namely, the Passenger Reservation System of Indian Railways, WILL NEVER be shut down for "maintenance" on a working day.

##Normally, this will be done on a Sunday (**certainly NOT EVERY SUNDAY), between 23.30 hrs. and 5.30hrs. When they do this, a Press Release will also be issued.

##By the way, who gave you the information that "Indian Railways is down for maintenance."? Whoever has done it, they gave you very very wrong information.

##The site could be slow because of pressure from the customers. Perhaps, everybody must be desperately trying for a ticket for departure on 12th and 15th.:-)

##I booked my ticket about 60 days ago for departure ex.Pune on 15th August, 2011 by 17031 in 3AC . I am still at RLWL.1!!

##You have not mentioned the class. However, please take a look at this:

Kindly note the last line of my earlier post.
"PS:- I have described how GN+PQ works. It can take place vice versa also."

In the past, before you had taken some days off, I had the opoprtunity to provide you with some sample PNR's which had multiple quota permutations and combinations. We had an extensive discussion on how passengers booking from start-end are allotted against PQ. However, if you remember correctly, I had stated clearly that such situation arises only when number of passengers against a PNR are more than one.
Since the query of the OP was regarding mainly how PQ and PQWL works, I avoided the discussion which you have so graciously explained.

PS:- Both situation takes place in IR (What I have stated and what you have stated). For reference, kindly have a glance at the past PNR examples, if you can.

Correct. This is what has happened in case of OP.

Again correct. Take the case of OP. For example, if we consider that PQWL was already running at PQWL 5. However berths were available against the earmarked quota from where he wanted to travel. In this case, the OP would be issued the confirmed berths and then he would straightaway jump to PQWL 5 and onwards.

Just confirms to the example, I provided above.

I am sorry to say, such situations does not happens. As you might be aware, there was a time when I had dealt with a number of PNR's. Never have I seen such situation arising.

##The chances for confirmation are remote for the reason given by you - Diwali!!!

##Please check SL Class (or) ex.KYN in any other train.

##Delay your departure by one day and attempt booking for Sunday, 23rd departure, because Deepavali is on Wednesday, 26th.

Now what are suggestions for me? shall I wait till charting for confirmation or should try for TATKAL QUOTA tomorrow for remaining not confirmed passangers. Please advise me for the best.
Even though the chance of confirmation is quite good, but I would still advise you to book 2 tatkal tickets for the WL'ed passengers. After successful booking, you can cancel the WL'ed passengers.

This train often sees extra 3AC Coach attached to it.
To me, this should land up in RAC.
However, do consider alternatives.
PS:- Kindly check this.

Nandigram Express shows RAC Status.
If you purchase a RAC Ticket now, it would stay back at RAC. (Nandigram has less chances of confirmation, but this would atleast guarantee you a seat)

Yes, anything can happen during charting. So speculating some of them would be an understatement!
