Should I try to buy for a tourist quota ticket at Varanasi when I get there? Do they even have Tourist ticket booth there?

1. RAC means Reservation Against Cancellation.
A RAC Passenger is required to share a berth with another fellow co-passenger. On availability of berth, one of you shall be allotted the same and the other passenger shall have the original berth for his own.

2. No idea about Tourist Office at Varanasi but you can also apply for the same or a HO Quota ticket to the reservation officer.

You might want to try this. This is perhaps my first ever rail journey, infact as part of a personal and professional commitment I have decided to travel in India more and more! And as part of the learning process I have booked a few extra tickets which should get cancelled in case they don't get confirmed.

Very much. However. have opted for a break since 1 month.

1. Should stay back in WL.
2. As said earlier has very good chances of confirmation. (Purely owing to the fact that it has 6 CC, else I do not have much idea about the toy trains)
3. Tough. This has HA and journey for such a short distance seems tough. At the most this can see partial confirmation. Would advise you to go for Kalka Shatabdi Express/12006 (1A/ECC). It would definitely confirm.
2S of Una Janshatabdi Express/12058 and Himalayan Queen/14096 shows availability for the same date. You can keep it as backup.

I just booked a tatkal ticket for New Delhi to Sawai Madhopur,24th June , while for 2 fellow passengers the status is confirmed mine says CKWL1 , what are the chances of this getting confirmed, if not can i travel on a general ticket , its a 5 hr journey during the day time.
