Hi can anyone help. I am trying to get an itinerary together for March. I have booke e tickets for New Delhi to Agra on 8th March shatabadi express but it says W/L 5 and W/L 6 is there a good chance of these being confimed please? I then want to book tickets to Jaipur on 9th March and then overnight to Varanai from Jaipur on 15th March .Not having lots of luck finding train especially the Jaipur to Varanasi leg. Any help much appreciated. Rhodesi.

You need to mention the class you've booked.

Jaipur is west of Agra, Varanasi is east of Agra, Jaipur-Varanasi trains pass through Agra, the morning Agra-Jaipur train comes from Varanasi and is often delayed by a couple of hours (or more).

Try going Delhi-Jaipur-Agra fort-Varanasi Jn......hold on a minute, where are you going from Varanasi?

I know it sound silly to be going west to go back east to Varanasi,but I started booking trains and a hotel in Agra before we decided we could not pass the opportunity to see Varanasi We want a few days in Jaipur,then to Varanasi,then fly back to New Delhi.Regards rhodesi.

I leave for India in 1 week, I have bought many train tickets, for the same route 2 different trains.
For example:

3239. +PNBE MTJ EXPRES WAITLIST WL3 & WL4 16:45-05:45
or second option
Shiv Ganga Exp (2559) Varanasi Jn - Allahabad Jn 19:15-22:05 Ald Mtj Express (2403) Allahabad Jn - Agra Cantt 23:30-06:55

I have 1,5 hours in Allahabad. Does 2559.train delay mostly?

Before departure which is the last time I can cancel one of the tickets (routes)? I want to pay only for one option even if i have two different trains same destination and both confirmed.
I have read, that the waitlisted tickets are deleted and refunded right away by the indian rails.
One more question:
If the 3239 becomes RAC. which is better, changing trains with confirmed tickets or take one train with RAC ?

I have a ticket booked from Vadodara to New Delhi Sleeper class on Paschim Express. Travel date is 31 Jan and the waiting list number is 21 right now. It has been booked on 19 Jan and from then it has only moved from WL 23 to WL 21. Please tell if it will get confirmed or not. Pnr no. is 813-9204120 Train number is 2925.

You can move the hotel booking back by a few days and cancel your rail ticket (cancellation charges are tiny), is simply doesn't make sense to add over 5 hours extra travel time.

Give the class.....after having to search for it, I find the obvious solution, instead of booking 2A (3239), book in 3A, it still has 10 berths available.

Hi Steven, Yes good advice will do that. Any idea on chances of A/C 1 chair on 6.15 Shatabadi to Agra 8/03/10 becoming confirmed please. We have been W/L 5 and W/L 6 since booking nearly a week ago.I understand from the link you sent,that when the list is made up, quotas are used to reduce waiting list.It says on one site that this is one of the most popular trains and is often fully booked. Sorry Steven,ignore my last post,just got up. Its New Delhi to Varanasi then Agra then Jaipur back to Delhi right? Have learned a lesson to plan itinerary more thoroughly before leaping into booking. Thanks rhodesi

What are the chances of getting confirmed berths?

Second time in India we have booked Etickets to go up to Agra Cantt from Margoa on 23 feb mangala Ldweep train 2617 03.50 hrs AC2 tier 2a and are PQWL3 and PQWL4
Return Agra Cantt to Margoa
Goa express 24 feb train 2780 17.50 hrs AC2 tier2a and are WL13 and WL14.
Could anyone advise on the chances these will be confirmed.

I have already bought both of the tickets. So I have time to cancel it the day before and I get back the money.
Changing trains seems better option, because I leave later in the evening and don't arrive so early to Agra. And if the train is on time, I have 1 hour to get some food before sleeping.
Do you think the train isn't gonna be in time?
Am I silly about it?
If you say so, I cancel both of them and buy the 3A tickets, lot of bank transfers, but safety is better, and hopefully they send back the money.

I was so happy to find this changing train option.....

Forget above, because we desperately want to go to the Taj have changed days and managed to get confirmed tickets both ways albeit sleeper coming back,but looking forward to the experience.

Can the experts here give a hindsight if my tickets will get confirmed?

Only 14 berths used, so it may be difficult to get to Confirmed status.

Keep the tickets and see if there is any movement in the waitlists, but you may want to have a back up.

Train 8238 (Amritsar 16.15 Agra Cant 08.30) still has availability in 2A, but this may mean you miss the border ceremony, so that would be a pity, but still best to have these tickets as a back up.
