Thanks.

I've added the thread to my signature. (the links work best when linked to threads rather than articles)

Hi!

Me and five friends are arriving in New Delhi on the 17th of December. We've booked tickets with the Goa express on the 18th, but unfortunatly we are one the WL. Do you think we will get on?

Our train number is 2780 Goa Express
3A is the class
And we are travelling on the 18th to Madgaon

The WL number on the first ticket is WL72/WL55..

@ Ali-Monbeam: Wait regarding cancellation 2 more weeks. I mean its on 31rst ... the fees are quite low.

Ooty Train:

MTP -> UAM

I booked for 2 persons on 29th Dec and 30Dec both classes
29 1rst Class WL20+21
29 2nd Class WL 24+25
30 1rst Class WL 13+14
30 2nd Class WL 24+25

I dont think that ther'll be many cancellations on Ooty Toytrain. But I dont want to miss it. Do you think we ll get a lot trouble if we just board the train even with a WL ticket (to sit near the doors on the floor)

train 2635

What are chances of confimration if i were to book 3 tickets CC Trichy to Madurai 1 Jan on Train 2635.

Currently showing WL10/WL 8 and it appears that Trichy Quota is around 30 so guess I would need 1/3 to cancel !!
While there are other trains timing of this one was perfect for me .. my other preferred option would be to catch a bus.

thank you

I dont think anyone here will advise you to break rules and essentially travel illegally. I have a feeling there may be unreserved carriages on that train but others will know better then me so await their advice.

W/L status and RAC...

Hi all,
I booked the MUZAFFARPUR EXP train (no. 1061) from Jalgaon to Katni on Dec 26th. When I booked I had WL2 and WL3. Now if I query for availability on the same train I see "WL 8/WL 5" (which means, if I understood correctly, that 3 persons canceled their booking), but my PNR status is still WL2 and WL3.
Does this mean that the 3 cancelation were made for tickets after mine (i.e. for tickets in WL 4 or more)? Or it means something else?

Thank you all

Bye
Roberta

Help!

Am wondering if I should start making flight plans. On September 23, 2008, I booked 3 Class 1A seats on Amritsar mail (3005) December 14, from Howrah JN (HWH) to Varanasi JN (BSB).

Under status on my eticket I see the following: WL 1 //0000; WL 2//0000; WL 3 // 0000.

When I check my PNR status, I see:

Booking Status Current Status
(Coach No , Berth No., Quota) (Coach No , Berth No.)
Passenger 1 W/L 1 ,GNWL W/L 1
Passenger 2 W/L 2 ,GNWL W/L 2
Passenger 3 W/L 3 ,GNWL W/L 3
Charting Status CHART NOT PREPARED

The w/l numbers have not moved an inch since September. I seem to remember reading that w/l is common on Class I(A), because they don't assign berths until the last minute.

Should I be worried?

Thanks in advance for your help

I've no time to look minto your problem, but one correction.

Confirmed tickets in 1A will only say 'Confirmed', they won't give a berth number till the charts are prepared a few hours before the train departs.

WL is completely different, and the reason for the numbers not moving is because the very few people who have confirmed berths aren't cancelling their tickets.

Without looking, and taking a wild guess, I'd say you will most likely be OK and should get confirmed berths, but that's just my opinion and could easily be wrong.

The info is all there for you toi find out for yourself, it's all there in the availability searches.

Hi all,

This is my first trip to India and I´m a bit worried about trains.

I booked two 2a class tickets for thr next trains.

Train 4059 (DLI JSM EXPRESS) from Gandhinagar to Jaisalmer on 26 Dec.
Train 4060 (JSM DLI EXPRESS) from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur on 28 Dec.

and two 1A class tickets for Train 2453 (RAJSTHN S KRANT) from Jaipur to Jodhpur on 27 Dec.

We´re in the wait list of all of them, the statuas is WL3 and WL4.

Could anyone tell me if the tickets will be confirmed or should I try to look for an alternative?

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the info. In response to your reply to my post, I checked online per the faq, and it appears that there are only 6 slots available for 1AC several months out. Does that sound normal? I figured there would be more slots. So I guess that means if I'm WL 1, 2, 3, odds are low that we will slip in on a cancelation. Can anyone with any experience weigh in and let me know their thoughts? Thanks in advance.

The minimum nimber of 1AC berths is 10 (for half a carriage, the other half being 2A), so do availability searches from other stations to see if you can find the missing 4 berths.

Chances are that they are held back for other quotas, and should they not be needed, they'll be used to reduce the waitlist.
