PLEASE HELP! Manali-Dharamsala-Rajasthan

Going to India for three months NEXT WEEK and need some help urgently, please!

My plan so far is to start in Delhi and head off north to Shimla and Manali to do some trekking on the Himalayas. After the trek was planning to go to Dharamsala. Does anyone know what the best way (not too uncomfortable but not too expensive either) is to get from Manali to Dharamsala? Bus, car? Will I need to book in advance?

Also, have decided to go to Rajasthan after Dharamsala. Is there any (reasonable) way to get to Jodhpur (or anywhere nearby) straight from Dharamsala or would I be best off going via Delhi? Would like to avoid Delhi if possible as spending a week there when arrive but also don't want to end up sat on a rattling bus for three days!

Have not been to India before and know absolutely NOTHING so please help me.

u can do it .u can start ur tour from dharamshala to amritsar golden temple n you can also watch the flag down ceremony at indo pak border name wagha. n from amritser to bikaner rajasthan which is 570 km. where u can c the nice fort n rat temple as well.then jodhpur is 260 km about.

SHIMLA

Manali to Dharamsala (235 kms.) can be done by bus or taxi. The route is via Kullu, Mandi, Jogindernagar, Baijnath and Palampur. You may hire a taxi form Manali, but will be charged for the return too. The charges are based on Rs./km., so you'll be effectively charged for 470 kms. minimum.
The advantages of a taxi are that you can halt at the places mentioned enroute and explore a bit.
