That system was running alongside the Simran system of tracking trains, Indian Railways had invested in Simran as a way to determine the location of it's trains in real time, but decided to abandon this system in September.

As per Decision of Railway Board in a meeting held on 11/Sep/2012 at Railway Board this site has been closed on 1/Oct/2012. SMS Service which was running on 09415139139 is also closed. User might use regular Indian Railways Enquiry Systems. Railway SMS Service No is 139.
Sorry for inconvenience.

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

I loved the old interface of http://www.trainenquiry.com
the new one doesn't give much information station by station.

Smile New site to check train running status by IR

trainenquiry.com has stopped working now.
Instead there is another very good site started by railways for train running information...
http://enquiry.indianrail.gov.in/ntes/
the site gives correct information on mail routes, where signalling is electronic. On some routes, where signalling is manual, the time may show Rigt time, even if the train was 3 hrs late.
