Hi there,

I just made an online reservation for the 0111 Konkan express train, from Mumbai to Goa, on 29/04/08.

The form was very hard to fill in, the website kept messing up. Anyway, eventually I managed to complete the process and my payment was made.

When I completed the payment, the only information I was given was epg transaction id, merchant transaction id, auth id.

I am a bit worried as to what I do when I get there? Do I just show these 3 codes? These seem to be credit card confirmation codes to me

Am I going to be emailed a passenger number/ticket number etc? I haven't got an email yet. Anyone have any experience with this?

How long does it normally take to be emailed the ticket/information, etc??

Thanks, Oli

Congratulations - it's sometimes tough to make it all the way through!

Yes, it emails you after the booking, but if you do not get an email you can always log in (using the id and password you were forced to set up as part of the process) and then call up and print out the reservation confirmation. You will need to carry the confirmation with you when you get on the train.

Hi,

Sorry I didn't mention I used the Konkanrailways site. It was a very old fashioned website. I have now seen the irctc website and seen I can make the same booking there. Should I book on there just to be certain?

Trying to book the same journey on the irctc site, on all options of where I'm sitting I am getting:

Wait Listed ticket reservation is not permitted on your e-ticket .
If you wish to book a waitlisted ticket please replan the same journey for i-ticket.

What is an i-ticket? I'm assuming it's a ticket they post to you? I wouldnt have time for this. Or does this mean the train is fully booked?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry, ignore my comments, I was assuming that you were on irctc. Have no experience of the other one.

I've never booked an i-ticket, but if you do a bit of searching there is a general railways thread that gives all the details of the different types of tickets.

There's a big, sticky thread at the top of the Railways forum that will tell you everything you need to know.

But why are you trying to book the same journey on IRCTC when you've already made a booking on the Konkan site?

Will have a read through the thread.

The only reason I thought I should do that, was that I got no real confirmation on the konkan site about my ticket, and haven't yet recieved an email from them. And it was a very old fashioned site, and wasn't sure that the train ticket was 100% confirmed

I've not booked through the Konkan website, so don't know how it works, but other members have booked without problems using the Konkan website, though I don't know how they got there tickets.

I seem to remember a member saying they could pick their ticket up at Mumbai CST station, but I can't really remember, the post was a few years ago.

For others......

Only 3-tier air con on the daytime and overnight Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai trains can be booked, and the Konkan website charges more, I think they have 10 berths available to sell.
.

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

If it says successful, do you have good reason to assume it was unsuccessful?

Kindly note Oliphillips above made his (only) posts in April last year, the person is unlikely to get back to you.

I got that message on konkanrailway.com when i booked on konkan railway site, but have not received any confirmation email with my booking, so even though the booking seems successful, i have no info about my tickets etc
just wondering if anyone else had booked through konkan and received the same info after booking..
thanx for reply
Peace

I really don't know; do they indicate they'll send a confirmation email? Did you feed them with the right one?

Never used it I must say.

Again, I really don't know. Nor did I ever take the Konkan trip.

It's said to be a very scenic route, provided you travel in the daytime no doubt, which I would assume because of its reputation it is geared to.

I think going with your "successful" messages I'd take my chances and assume it's OK, then cross my fingers really. Doing the latter (or a mindset prepared to doing so) may prove handy in India anyway.

Have fun, let us know how you fared
