Online Payment using IRTC

Hi all,

I have made all my plans for an upcoming trip to India in two weeks. I filled in all my information on the IRTC website for trains (Delhi t0 NJP, NJP to Kolkata) and have arrived at the payment page only to discover no payment is accepted from a credit card not issued by an Indian bank?

Have I over-looked something? Does it really matter if I just use my Raiffaisen Bank debit card? I am not travelling in high season so I don't think I will have a problem booking and paying in cash when I am there but still would like to have it sorted before hand (I hope!). Any ideas?

Also, is it possible to book the Darjeeling Toy Train online? I couldn't seem to find it anywhere?

Thanks in advance for your help IMers,

Cheers,

Luke

You are confusing selecting a payment gateway with credit cards accepted. Theoretically you can chose any gateway for processing your credit card through (there are more options for India credit card holders, ignore those). Just select a gateway such as ICICI or Citibank.

i reserved my trains with visa using the AXIS gateway.. no problems doing this.

re: darjeeling-newjalpaiguri railway, the trains are 1D and 2D depending on direction... can find them on the irctc website by putting in stations and choosing FC or 2S class

maybe my answer is too late for your travels
hope you found what you're looking for

Axis Gateway (and be sure you select the one at the top for Visa/ Credit Cards - not the one in the second section for Indian debit cards) seems to be the one working for most cards - I finally got my card accepted through this one.
