On-line booking ooty-mettupalaiyam train?

I've tried ... and tried ... and tried ...
\
I cannot seem to book tickets for good ole' #661 (Ooty-Mettupalaiyam) 15 March on line. Despite messages to the contrary on this site, this does not seem to be an "enabled" on-line booking train.

Any hints?

I've just got all the way to 'payment options' using the same details.

First Class(FC) = AVAILABLE- 0012

Train No - 661,
Train Name UAM (Ooty) - MTP (mettupaliyam) Passenger
From - UAM To MTP (station codes)
Date - 15-Mar-2006
Class - First Class(FC)
Boarding Point UAM (Ooty)
Reservation Upto MTP (mettupaliyam)
Quota = General

At one point I got the following message........

Quote:
Train Route

The "From" Station you have selected does not exist on the route of the Train or this station has been deleted. Kindly select your "From" station from the Train Route shown below
So I ticked the box next to UDAGAMANDALAM (New name for Ooty)

All worked fine after that.

Try again, good luck.

Steven,

I'm obviously doing something very wrong. I sign in at https://www.irctc.co.in/, get to the " Plan My Travel and Book Ticket" page, enter Stations UAM and MTP, tick the e-ticket option and enter FC for class. No. 661 come up, but the "select" box is always greyed out (I've tried other dates, same thing). It will not let me proceed until I select a train, and there is none I can check (I've tried!).

You must be getting at this from a different route...

Here's what the screen looks like - notice the greyed "select" button:

Never mind.... Sorry. Just figured out I've been booking an e-ticket, which apparently cannot be done for 661. I will be booking an i-ticket instead. Sorry to be so dense.

Not dense at all, it's a very confusing system.

Only trains with 4 numbers, the first being a 2 can use the e-ticket system.

Glad you got the ticket in the end, it's a stunning journey.
