Old Delhi railway station

Hi all

I used the New Delhi station (NDLS), but soon I'll use, for the first time the Old Delhi / Delhi Jn. (DLI) station, and I'll have to stay there (or around) for 12 hours (10AM --> 10PM).

If someone is familiar with this station, are the services listed below available? And if so – any comment or rating will be most welcomed.

1) Cloakroom / luggage storage
2) Waiting room
3) Retiring room

Any other suggestion what can I do with this half-day….

Thanks for your help,

Why not just deposit your luggage in a luggage locker and leave the station? You're arriving at 10 in the morning, not in the middle of the night. You'll have a full day do things in the city - why waste it sitting in the railway station??? This makes no sense to me. Yes, technically 12 hours is "half" a day as you say, but the 12 hours you'll be there is pretty much all the daylight hours plus the evening. Go see Humayan's tomb. Go up to Chandi Chowk and the Red Fort. Check out the shopping at the State Emporia on Baba Karak Singh Marg or at the Central Cottage Industries on Janpath. Or just hire a taxi to drive you around looking at the city. Have lunch, have dinner. Whatever. The possibilities are all there in any standard guidebook.

That exactly what I intend to do...
What I'm asking is if there is a reliable cloakroom in this station and if after running all around delhi I'll have a place to wash my face and rest a little....

Look outside the main entrance/exit to the south of the station, there is a big 'Toilet Complex', all in lights and looking brand new (last March), I never went in there, but I would bet they also have washrooms in there.

That's a relief! So when you said you had to stay "there", you were speaking broadly of Delhi - I had visions of you hunkered down on the platform, waiting for your train, becoming increasing depressed as the hours rolled by ..

Send a message via Yahoo to bijapuri
or, for a few ruppees more, get a room in Old Delhi and you can have wash off Old D's smog after a day of sights.
