Dear Nirola,
He will be in New Delhi Reservation Office. --- Perhaps, you will be interested to know that, in the past, the Change of Boarding Point for E-Tickets (**that is the tickets booked on the Internet & printed on the Internet) was NOT being allowed. ---- However, the authorities took a decision a few months ago to allow Change of Boarding Point on E-Tickets. ----- One more thing. The TATA-DLI Quota and MURI-DLI Quota is one and the same. As such, you friend may book the MURI-DLI Ticket and get the Boarding Point changed. ---- Even if the authorities refuse to effect this change, DUE TO CHANGE OF QUOTA, your friend need to travel only upto Muri instead of Muri. |

I want people to help me.
I had booked some ticket through Agent in Feb 2009. The tickets were e-ticket. One train got cancelled after chart prep all of sudden. The other was cancelled before chart prep, though both were confirmed e-tickets. Q1- Agent said e-tickets cant be cancelled after chart prep. True/False? Q2- Agent said e-tickets, dont get cancelled, but he has raised for retfund which will take 90 days. But now after 6 months, he says railways have not refunded. How to check and know whether tickets are actually refunded? And if the agent is taking me for ride what to do now? |

I think your agent is talking of TDR..
Every TDR filed with railyways has a unique number. Get the number from him and find out the status. The refund process will take at-least 60 days and more 4. E-ticket refund request (after chart preparation) can be filed online. 5. In case of i-ticket, online refund request is not allowed. For i-ticket please follow the following procedure: • Surrender the I-Ticket with the Station Master and obtain a Ticket Deposit Receipt. • Send your claim for refund to the following address attaching the original copy of the TDR to: General Manager (Operations), Indian Railway Catering & Tourism, Corporation Ltd., 2nd Floor, STC Building, 1, Tolstoy Marg, New Delhi - 110 001. • IRCTC will process the refund claim with the Railway Administration and refund granted by the Railway shall be credited to your account • Refund claims under above clause may require at least 60 days or more for processing Refund Rule: 1. Do I have a seat?
I feel like I'm in India already - very confused!
I think I've succeeded in booking 1AC tickets to Agra but the e-ticket (below) doesn't show any seat/berths. Do, do I have a confirmed seat? Do I just show up and get on the train? PNR No 2526383945 Train No 2191 Train Name NDLS JBP SUP EX From NDLS To AGC Date 08-10-2009 Class 1A Boarding Point NDLS Reservation Upto AGC Quota General S# Name Age Sex Seat/Berth Coach Status 1 RCANE 049 Male 0000 CONFIRM |

RCane,
Cool it, you've confirmed seat - though the number is not finalized by Railways yet. IR 1A (First AC) is the only class, where you do not get a seat/berth number as soon as you get a confirmed booking. Seat/berth allocations are done at the time of the chart preparation, which is approximately 4 hrs before scheduled departure. So, on 8 Oct, go to the station, find the platform from which the train would be leaving and you can find a reservation chart. It'll list all classes, look for 1A and look up the PNR from the list. 1A list shouldn't be long, so that should be fine. Beside your PNR, your berth/seat # would be given. If you have access to Internet after chart preparation, you can also go to http://www.indianrail.gov.in/pnr_stat.html and feed in your PNR# to get the seat/berth #.

Additional Security Password for Credit Card Payment also mandatory?
Hi all,
since a few weeks on the www.irctc.co.in website you can find the following information: "To make online transaction process more secure through VISA/MASTER Credit Cards, RBI has made mandatory extra level of authentication called VBV (Verified by Visa) or MSC (Master Card Secure Code) password from 01st August 2009 onwards.[...]" As this passwords are not yet offered by many banks in Germany this could be a problem for German travellers. Therefore in a German Forum there was the question if anyone would know a solution as people feared they couldn't book tickets anymore. Well, I completed a test booking for a cheap ticket through the AXIS PG payment gateway yesterday and it worked without any problem. The gateway only asked for the well known SecureCode on the back of the card but not for the additional password. Therefore I resumed that foreign Credit Cards are probably excluded from the requirement and we all can still book tickets as easy as before and no one needs to worry. Is that your experience too? Thanks for your replies! Germantraveller |

You are correct germantraveller - this Verified by Visa extra password or whatever is only required by cards originating in India. Any cards from other countries can still be used on the IRTC site without having to have that extra password. I used my Oz card the other day successfully too. You just wait for the page to open.
