No position change in W/L but W/L getting shorter

Hi,

I m confused as to why I m not yet confirmed for a train. I was the first person on the W/L and am still the first person on the W/L. But I also see that the W/L has decreased from 8 to 3. What the heck is going on here? I need to be on a train from SWM to Delhi on Oct 18th. Thanks in advance.

could mean that some people with w/l tickets have cancelled their tickets...leaving the w/l queue shorter than earlier..

It means that 5 people who've purchased waitlisted tickets AFTER you purchased yours, have since cancelled their waitlisted tickets.

I'll have a little play around and see what I can find out.

EDIT, sorry Papaji, we seemed to have posted at the same time.

Another edit, sorry, I can't find anything out about the waitlist, the train is waitlisted right till 60 days from now, so I'm unable to find out how many berths are allocated for this section.

The train has a waitlist for the next couple of days...WL 17/WL 10 & WL 25/WL 13, so nothing to really indicate how much the waitlist generally goes down.

But you should have a great chance as you're only WL 1 & 2, and there is still plenty of time, but sometimes cancellations don't happen till the last couple of days.

why don't you consider using the Kota Janashatabdi as an alternative and you will find the ride much more comfortable and most probably get a confirmed seat?

Thanks for the suggestion. My challenge is that I would like to go on the gypsy safari at Ranthambore on the morning of Oct 18 but I have to be back at the Indira Gandhi Airport for 11 am on Oct 19 for flight to Bagdogra. This rules out Kota Janashatabdi as an alternative. I am also W/L 1 and 2 on SWARAJ EXPRESS(2471) on Oct 18. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

Train 2415 departs Sawai Madhoppur daily at 00:24 and gets to Nizamuddin (Delhi) at 05:40

Availability for 19th October

3A = 18.

The train starts it's journey in Indore, a lot closer than Mumbai (train 2471).

##A small correction. After "tempperm", 6 passengers have got into Waiting List, but 3 of them have cancelled their tickets. Hence it is, 2+6/2+3=8/5.

Hello VSP / Everyone,

I see that in 2471 BDTS - JAT Swaraj express their are not more than 8-10 seats shown available even after checking dates for all the 3 months available for booking. Is it that the train has been only half a compartment of 2 AC or is it that Bombay has only quota of 12 seats? Considering its a long distance train, that should be improbable. Can you share how many 2 AC coaches does Swaraj express carry?

I have an option of taking up a 22WL in 2 tier AC for a 17 August ticket sound. Is it confirmable? If not please let me know if i need to do split booking in the train? Or should i just take the waitlist ticket and hopefully it will be confirmed considering we still have a month ahead?

I have always been inquisitive about

1) How do you find that which trains has how many quotas (PQ, RL, GL) for a particular route?
2) What trains run what configurations of 1 AC, 2AC, 3AC and sleeper classes? Is their a table or reference site?
3) Can you tell by the number of coaches in the train that how much of each configuration is being carried in that train with reasonable accuracy?
4) How are the percentages of quota allocations done on a particular long distance train. Is their a reference guide that one can refer to?

Appreciate if you can answer my queries.

For your queries 1,2,3,4, the answer is "NO". There is no reference book for any of your queries.

1) In so far as compposition, rather configuration of the Train is concerned, we get this information from the passengers who have travelled (or) who have seen it.

2) Regarding Quotas, we keep searching the availabilities by different trains running in the country, and thus I come to know about the Quotas.

3) Long back, I have provided a detailed reply as to how these quotas operate. You may locate the same and gon through, because it is difficult for me once again to start from the beginning.

4) Normally, in so far as configuration is concerned, there would not be any additions to a 24-coach train, except in a very very exceptional cases, when the acute need is felt for augmentation. For example, very recently, two coaches were added to a 23-coach train. Once in abluemoon, this type of additions will be made.

5) However, for 16-20 coach trains, there could be additions depending upon the need.
