New Delhi Station v Hazrat Nizamuddin
Hi
I will be travelling from Delhi to Agra in October. I know that I can catch the earlier Taj Express from New Delhi or the Bhopal Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin station. I will be purchasing an e-ticket for my trip. Can somebody tell me which is the easier station to use for a foreign tourist. I hear that New Delhi is very large and confusing not to mention the number of scams in operation. I also hear that sometimes the board does not list the correct platform numbers for trains and that one must seek out a railway employee for assistance in finding the correct platform. However I hear that Hazrat Nizamuddin station is much smaller and quieter and that it may be easier to catch a train and find the right platform without too much hassle from scammers. Can somebody please advise? Thanks |

Taj Expr starts from Nizamuddin. It is the best train to Agra.

Yeah, Nizamuddin is much, much, much easier. Just about any station I have ever been in is easier than NDLS.

I'd be inclined to agree. The platform numbering for DLI and NDLS isnt very intuitive.
Nizamuddin is simple. 6 platforms - just walk on, you can even walk up/down the bridge and locate your train ![]()

I prefer NDLS, because it's so close to Paharganj where I normally stay. But to Mathura or Agra, the Taj Expr is the best option. Not so easy to arrange an auto to Nizamuddin that early in the morning, and a bit expensive, as it is quite far from there. Costs some extra nervousness the night before.
I have never had any problems in the station in New Delhi. To me, Nizamuddin is also a landmark to go/refer to Vaidya Triguna, the famous Ayurveda doctor, who lives accross the railtracks. Easier to travel to during the day. |

Thanks guys this is a great help.
Just one question Atala - is there any reason why you think the Taj Express train is a better option than the Shatabi Express ? Is it a better train or do you just prefer the station it departs from? thanks |

Guess what,
the Shatabdi is even better than the Taj Expr; it starts earlier, and goes right from New Delhi Rwy station, walking distance from Paharganj. The Shatabdi did not exist at the time when I went that way a lot. |
