Need to know about WL tickets...

Hi All,

I want to know about RLWL tickets.

And just want to know that,

(1) I have a ticket from Vadodara (BRC) to PUNE on 8th June 2008 and that is WL 75 for SL Class in 1049/KOLHAPUR Exp. Is there a chance of getting this ticket confirmed ? And if not confirmed can I travel in SL Class with an e-ticket ( printed ticket and not one from Indian Rail ) ? Please let me know.

(2) And I have two tickets from Ahemedabad (ADI) to PUNE on 16th June 2008 and that is RLWL 10 & RLWL 11 for SL Class in 6531/YPR GARIB NAWAH Exp. Is there a chance of getting this ticket confirmed ?

1. There are good chances of getting this confirmed or RAC as the whole train is being operated in single quota which is applied wehn you book from ADI or BRC and also whether the ticket is upto PUNE or KOP. Moreover, the max berths for this common quota is around 450 berths.

2. I suggest you wait till the last 5 days of the jourhey date and monitor the tatkal quota. If the tatkal quota is getting exhausted quickly, then you can book the tickets in that quota. If there are several tatkal berths remaining

3. This train is very convenient overnight/weekend connection between ADI and PUNE. So there will be no surpirse when tatkal quota exhausted very quickly. (In some trains within few minutes after 8 am, all tatkal quota berths get booked)

4. if it is a WaitListed e-ticket, but not confirmed, then the passengers are not supposed to board the train and instead get a general ticket for performing the journey. This is the biggest difference between the WL e-ticket and WL i-ticket.

Dear Rao,

There are good chances of getting this confirmed or RAC as the whole train is being operated in single quota which is applied wehn you book from ADI or BRC and also whether the ticket is upto PUNE or KOP.

##The fact that the ticket's status is RLWL makes it very clear that this has been booked under Remote Location Quota BUT NOT GENERAL QUOTA.

##Secondly, you have to find out the exact REMOTE LOCATION from which this Quota is operated because the Remote Location Quota and General Quota are NOT charted simultaneously, and hence considering RLWL passenger against the vacancies under General Quota that exist at the time of Charting does not arise.

Dear VSP Sir,

You are right. I missed this Pooled Quota operating in those stretches.

But I have observed a difference in the pooled quota results. On 22 June, the 3 AC availability is difefrent between these two strecthes. Similarly on 13/14 july, also a difference in 3 AC availability. Could you please explain us on this?

VSP is extremely helpful in a couple of railway forums, in those forums everyone understands the layout of the railway info, but it's different here, many (if not most) tourists will struggle to understand the info provided, a pity really, as VSP is probibly the best person in the whole world to ask about waitlists and quotas.

There is nothing special. Myself and Mr.TRN Rao, who is my co-Member in IRFCA,like Steven, were discussing about Pooled Quota Waiting List, Remote Location Waiting List and General Waiting List and how they operate.

I have found out the Pooled Quota in Train No.1049 and Remote Location Quota in 6531.

I remember having explained about these three waiting lists in another Thread long back.

You are most welcome to raise any doubt about these Quotas/Waiting Lists and how to find out these quotas in a long distance train.

In short distance trains there will be only one Quota, that is, General Quota and the resultant General Waiting Lit (GNWL).

Myself and Mr.TRN Rao, who is my co-Member in IRFCA,like Steven, were discussing about Pooled Quota Waiting List, Remote Location Waiting List and General Waiting List and how they operate. --- I have found out the Pooled Quota in Train No.1049 and Remote Location Quota in 6531. --- I remember having explained about these three waiting lists in another Thread long back. ---- You are most welcome to raise any doubt about these Quotas/Waiting Lists and how to find out these quotas in a long distance train. ....... In short distance trains there will be only one Quota, that is, General Quota and the resultant General Waiting Lit (GNWL).
