ND to Udaipur - Plane or Train?

Been lurking on this site for days and here's my first post.

Taking my first trip to India in Feb. Plans have come together nicely and now Im at the stage where Im booking my intra-india travel. So here's the ?.

Im arriving in New Delhi on Sat 2/12. Plan on a power roundtrip car excursion to Agra on Sun 2/13 and then want to leave for Udaipur on Monday 2/14.
Although a plane ride looks relatively easy on the surface (both financially and
length of flight) a friend lving in India recommended the Delhi-Udaipur train (9615). Its a long ride, close to 20 hrs. It leaves ND at 210pm and arrives in Udaipur at 9am. I like the idea of soaking in the scenery while we have light at the beginning and end of our journey. Im a bit apprehensive about the length, comfort and quality of the sights on the Delhi-Udaipur line.

Has anyone taken this trip before? If so, can u tell me a bit about the experience? Im fortunate the budget is not really weighing into the equation - just interested in hearing the pro's and cons of this train journey.

Our overall trip looks like this:
ND - Sat
ND to Agra Roundtrip - Sun
ND to Udaipur - Mon (potentially arriving Tue if we take the train)
Udaipur to Cochin - Thu
Ft Cochin - Thu-Fri
Backwaters - Sat-Sun
Game reserve - Sun-Thu
Mumbai - Thu-Sat
Sat - home we go

Forget the train (for now).

I was just searching for 'availability' and have noticed a problem.

No train from 31st Jan onwards.

By searching for the availability of loads of trains, it seems that the line will be closed between Chittaurgarh and Udaipur only.

I will enquire further and reply to this post when I have more info.

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.
