Whoa!!! Am in Palolem myself. (Meet for a drink?) I'm at Bhakti Kutir. Weather is warm and muggy -- it's always "almost-raining" and sometimes it actually does rain (albeit briefly). Taking a dip in the ocean tomorrow.
I ended up buying a tourist quota ticket myself because tatkal tix weren't available. I'm surprised this isn't mentioned more often -- tourist quota tickets are NOT sold at a premium and would seem to be the very best deal for non-Indians. (But in Mumbai they are apparently only sold at Churchgate and perhaps VT.) I was able to get 2nd class, non-AC, 3-tier, window seat, lowest berth (at an astonishing Rs. 293) -- all making for a fantastic rail experience. |

I bought it in Madgaon station as soon as I got off. You should try it (because it seems like you have no other choice) but be warned: I requested a lower berth and I was told none were available and so had to settle for the middle berth. Doesn't bode well for your chances. I was also told, though, that June 1 (my travel date) is the "end of the season" so perhaps it's not as much of a crush after. Just in case your dates are flex.
Good luck. There's always Kingfisher (Airlines). |

Sorry I'm not on the internet that often! We leave tomorrow, otherwise I would have. ![]() The weathers hot and muggy, but nowhere near what I was preparing myself for. People who say that Goa is too hot in May are exaggurating or have very low comfort thresholds. ![]() |

And of course, there's the Arabian Sea to dive into at any point, so "warm and humid" -- yeah, but so what?
