Mumbai-Goa rail booking from abroad

Good news for those interested in heading to Goa directly after arrival in Mumbai. The Konkan Railway has implemented a special deal for one train only, (No. 0111, Konkankanya Express), for which passengers, including foreign nationals, can book from abroad. Only 3ac is available and it is priced at 1250 rupees which is somewhat above regular fare.

Although there is a tourist booking window at Victoria Terminus, getting out of Mumbai fairly quickly in Nov. and Dec. can be a problem. The bus is a horrible alternative, and (contrary to older guide books and occasional posters on the Thorn Tree) there is no longer a cataraman or other regularly scheduled marine transport.

The details can be found on the Konkan RR site:

Unfortunately, the plan came too late for me as I had already booked and paid for a 6:30am flight to Goa (Jet Airways, approx $100US with taxes etc). Since I will be arriving late at night -- probably !:00am or later before I clear customs and immigration -- I will probably hang out at the airport until morning, and that's why I was checking the 'sleeping in airports' site and thought I'd post it for others.

I'm leaving my little island Sunday, Nov 10 and will be on my balcony in Arambol enjoying my first Kingfisher and Goan sunset Thursday the 14th. WOOHOO!!

Mumbai - Goa train times and fares.

I see from other posts that you are looking to go from Udaipur to Goa.

Train 431 departs Udaipur daily at 09:20 and gets to Ahmedabad at 21:00, it only has FC (first class non air con) and unreserved second class.

FC = Rs 451

Train 9943 departs Udaipur daily at 19:45 and gets to Ahmedabad at 04:20.

2A = Rs 621
FC = Rs 451
SL = Rs 154

From Ahmedabad you can get a direct train to Goa.

It departs from Ahmedabad at 11:55 (not on Tuesdays or Fridays) and gets to Madgaon (Goa) at 07:35 the following day.

2A = Rs 1619
3A = Rs 1031
SL = Rs 377
