You can approach the nearest railway reservation counter with your e–ticket printout and the valid photo ID proof of any of the passengers, 24 hours before the departure of the train.
However you will not get a refund for the NZM to MTJ portion.

Reply from irctc
I had written to irctc also about this and following is the reply received from them. While booking ticket from NZM to BCT, if I make boarding point as MTJ, that ticket goes to RLWL [remote location waiting list] where chances of confirmation are minimul.Hence I have booked ticket from NZM to BCT for 01/12 and will change my boarding point to MTJ. ThanX for your reply!
Please note that boarding point cannot be changed online. Any change in boarding point in E-ticket can be done across any Computerized Reservation Center as per existing Extent Railway rules. Kindly contact the Reservation Supervisor at the nearest Reservation Center with ERS printout and photo identity proof of one of the passanger traveling in the tick at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of train as per extant Railway rules for the same. The Railway Authorities will endorse your ticket for the change of boarding point. No refund will be permissible for the portion of journey not performed by the passenger.
Boarding point change which is done at PRS counter will not reflect in IRCTC's booking history details.
