Missing the train at one station and getting on at the next station

Missing the train at one station and getting on at the next station

I have a question and need UREGNT help please. I have made bookings on train 4864 Agra Fort to Varanasi Jn on the 17th of December. We are 3 people and only 2 tickets got confirmed and one was WL1. However, the same train stops (just before it reaches Agra Fort) in Idgah Agra Jn. I did a search and there are still 2A-berths available on that selection.

Now, my question. Can I book a confirmed ticket for IDH (the station before Agra Fort), but only get on the train at Agra Fort which is the next station?

Could someone please help - I need to have the tickets confirmed please!

Yes you can, in theory you should indicate that you'd be boarding at a later station (but you can't do this over the internet), but there only 10 minutes apart, so I doubt the ticket examiner will check till after Agra Fort.

Thanks Steven - I am from South Africa and need to make our final booking later tonight (we are 3 and a half hours before Indian time). Next one is MGS (Mughal Sarai Jn - outside Varanasi) to NJP on the 2506 NE Express. I see that there are only 4 berths available. How does this work, surely there are not only 4 berths avaiable before internet bookings are allowed. I am confused, but thanks for your help.

Just don't expect 2506 to get into New jalpaiguri in time for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (09:00 I think), the line to NJP seems to attract delays.

We have arranged that jeeps pick us up at NJP to take to Darjeeling. But why are there so little berths available before the bookings have opened?

Because MGS to NJP is just one section of the Delhi - Guwahati route.

Many people will be traveling the whole route.

Dear Eopperman,

The distance from Idgah Jn. to Agra Fort is just 2 Kms. aqnd even otherewise, there are no stops for 4864 in between.

You can ask the 3rd man to get into the Train at Idgah and the remaining two in Agra Fort.

But the 3rd man can get into the coach in Agra Fort.

Thanks a mil for the help VSP. I have made an i-reservation (confirmed) and they will be delivering my tickets to my hotel. When I am in India during December I will cancel the other WL ticket. I now have 2 confirmed tickets (2A) getting on at Agra Fort and 1 confirmed ticket (2A) for Idgah Jn. I am thinking that us all 3 can get aboard in Agra Fort.

hi,

i have a similar enquiry..i have a reservation from palghat to tirupati in kerala express, but for some reason i want to board the train from the next station.i.e coimbatore..now in regard to this i have 2 quiries?

1) i may keep silent as iam boarding the train from the very next station( approx after an hour) and the TTE will most probably wait till the next station before calling it a NO SHOW and reallocating tickets. OR

2) i may go the the comp reservation cetre where the tickets were booked and get it changed. ( here my biggest worry and query is....I HAVE A CONFIRM RESERVATION AND NOW WHEN I WILL ASK THEM TO CHANGE MY BOARDING STAION WILL THEY NOT ALLOCATE MY BERTHS ACCORDING TO THIS NEW STAION? THE RESERVATION FROM THIS BOARDING STATION NOW SHOWS HUGE WAIT LIST BUT MY ORIGINAL BOOKINGS ARE CONFIRMED)

Kindly advice and help

##If you change your Boarding Point from Palghat to CBE, your Confirmed Berths will be in tact because the PGT-TPTY Journey and CBE-TPTY Journey are booked under TVC-TPTY Quota!!!!

Hi,

I'd like to book train from madgaon to trivandrum, but may later decide to go south in goa. Should I go back up to madgaon to get the train, or can I feasibly catch it at Chauri (the next stop) without loosing my spot? Thanks.

24 hours before the journey, visit a railway station and ask them to change the boarding point. They will gladly change it for you.
