Matsyagandha express - does it go to Mangalore station or to Kankanady station?

Hi:

I have been reading confusing information about what station is located on the Konkan rail line, in Mangalore. Apparently, a number of web sites mention that Konkan railway line passes through Kankanady station - does that mean that all trains running on the Konkan Railway route actually pass through Kankanady, and not through Mangalore (MAQ) ?

On the other hand, my railway ticket for Matsyagandha Express mentions MAQ (Mangalore) as the ultimate destination.

Mangalore specialists may please clear this confusion for me.

I guess Kankanady is in Mangalore. Would be something like referring to Howrah station and Kolkata. I just searched around and saw many addresses saying "Kankanady, Mangalore".

While most of trains stop at Kankanady (I think it's 20 - 30 mins distance by bus from Mangalore), the Matsygandha express does go up to Mangalore Station.

Matsyagandha Express goes to Mangalore railway station which is on the Southern Railway line, while Kankanady railway station is on the Konkan Railway line. Trains on Konkan line going to Ernakulam and Thiruvanthapuram bypass Mangalore station. Passengers travelling for Mangalore on these trains will have to get down at Kankanady station.
