Mangalore to Hassan

I am taking the day train up the Kerala cost to Mangalore
then hopefully to Hassan (Belur and Halebid) and Mysore
However, can not seem to find a train connection between Mangalore and Hassan or Mangalore and Mysore for that matter
Are there no such trains?

There is no trian between Mangalore and Hassan for the time being. You will have to take a bus. Takes around 4 hours by bus to Hassan. Scenic route, up the Shiradi Ghats.

thanks
I suspected no train but was not sure

I'm taking a car and driver from madurai to kochi (via periyar) so after the train up to mangalore I'll get another car and driver to get to Mysore - I love to travel by car to allow stops, etc. the buses drive me mad.
