Made a mistake with booking details on IRCTC- help!

Hi Everyone
I am in Delhi now Very very hot

I was just checking the booking details for trains I've booked and realised that on the first train I have accidentally put 'female' for my boyfriend! I know they use the sex to verify the correct person, so I'm a bit concerned now.

Do you think it will be ok, because it does have his name on the booking and he can obviously show his passport?

(It's my ID to be shown when we get on)

I can't see a way to change it on the website.

Thank you!

Might be worth going to the train station to see what they say if you're in India now... I'd -assume- as you've put yourself as the person to show ID with the ticket it may be ok, but sometimes my assumptions are wrong!

I think is no reason to be worried about it. Nobody cares about the passengers, only to the first in the list just for identification. In other case just say you made a mistake when tipyng.

Age and sex have always been specified on railway tickets as the basic identifiers that the right person is in the right seat. You may have to do some explaining. If you can show other tickets with 'M' for the same name, and your boyfriend can show ID to prove his name (of course: he'll have a passport, I guess) --- I'm sure you can get around it, especially as you are the one with the ID for the tickets.

You could email irtc.

If your boyfriend's ever had a hankering to dress up in women's clothes then this might be the ideal opportunity for him to do so without causing you undue alarm...

I believe that now, if you have an e-ticket, you have to specify the number of the document (eg. passport of drivers licence).

This is the item that is used to confirm the identity of the person, the sex is irrelevant.

But, as Mickey S suggests, if he wants to try the role of a "hijra"... :-)

Cheers

Dear candycc,

##Jokes apart, mistake is a mistake, whether committed knowingly or unknowingly.

##As per Rules you have to cancel this ticket and make a fresh booking, irrespective of the fact that your Identity Particulars were provided at the time of making this booking.

Thanks everyone, I'll guess we'll chance it.

I did suggest he wear a headscarf and one of my outfits but he doesn't seem so keen
