Lockers in the Delhi Central Train Station?

I will be travelling in the evening from Delhi to Agra, spend the next day there and will be coming back at the 2nd day, late in the evening in order to catch my flight.

Instead of carrying all my luggage to Agra just for one night, I was thinking it would be great to store them in some lockers in the Delhi Central Train Station. Are there such kind of lockers? Are they safe? What do you recommend me to do?

Are you staying in paharganj before you leave for Agra? You can always leave your stuff in one of the hotels left luggage facilities there. This is what i do. Ajay guest house has a good service for 4rs/day and you do not have to be a resident.

You can use the cloak-rooms in the railway station. Unlike their public image, they are actually safe and cheap option. I have used them many times without facing any issue.
Only requirements - locked luggage and a valid train ticket (either arrived or leaving from the station).

I still haven't decided on which hotel I will stay. Leaving my luggage to the hotel overnight would be an option.

Apart from that however do you know of any lockers that are safe and in operation in the Delhi Railway station?

Corinos, there won't be any lockers but Cloak room, which would be actually quite safe ..as other posters have pointed out..
