Very interesting list, I'm ashamed to say that I recognise far too many of those names.
Where did you get the list?
There's either some that shouldn't be there, or hundreds (if not thousands) that should be added. (Passenger trains mainly, but also 'Howrah Exp' or 'Trivandrum Exp' etc.)

Red Ribbon Express trains to create awareness about AIDS
By Bindu Shajan Perappadan
NEW DELHI, JAN. 9. India, with a population of 5-lakh HIV-positive individuals, has the dubious distinction of having the second largest population of HIV-positive persons in the world. However, it certainly does seem to be in a mood to let yet another fear, of the ailment acquiring pandemic proportions, come true.
Come mid-February, the country will be party to one of the largest, multi-sector collaboration campaigns aimed at spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS.
......
.......(News at The Hindu)
i was so excited when we got our tickets and i saw we were catching a train called the himalayan queen express to chandigarh. how romantic....
and just a little disappointing that it was just like all the other trains we travelled on

This train used to run between Madras Egmore and Dhanushkodi from 1898 till 1964 (?) Discontinued after Dhanushkodi was washed off in the floods of 1964. The train was also washed off the Pamban rail bridge in the Floods.

These are the only trains in India that share a name. These are totally different trains and are strictly regional. There are other trains that share names like Rajadhani, Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi, Swarna Jayanti, Sampark Kranti etc, but these are special classes of trains that share the same characterstics (speed, service, destinations etc). But both the Godavaris are not a seperate class of trains. They happen to be normal express trains.One runs between Manmad and Mumbai CSTM (1403) in the Central Railway zone and the other runs between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam (7007).
The only probable common feature of the two is that they both cross the river Godavari in their journey but at different points altogether.
...and I took the road less travelled.

Yes, the name sounds romantic, but its indeed like any other train ! You should have tried the "toy" train from Kalka to Shimla with the same name - Himalayan Queen; that would certainly have made your day. Honeymoon Expresses, is a general nickname for the trains traveling to 'such' destinations.
Duplicate express is again a nickname for the Howrah -Amritsar exp. This train follow the route of the ‘prestigious’ Howrah-Amritsar Mail and so earned the nickname
Executive Express ...I think there are many trains known by this name (unoffial ?) . TVM-EKM for example
Godavari Express
Godavari Express
...that's my mistake!!!! don't blame railways this time

next time shimla, next time. Express trains in India?
Hi,
I am taking my second trip to India in March - but it will be my first time traveling via train in India. I have a question about the types of trains. Are ALL "Express" trains decent trains?
Specifically, I am looking at going to Agra from Delhi. I know the most popular trains are the Shatadbi and the Taj Express that leave at 6:00 and 7:15 respectively. However, we will be arriving VERY LATE from London the night before, and really don't want to have to get up, packed, and out at the train station that early.
Are any of the other express trains okay? I'm specifically looking at the Samta Express that leaves from H Nizamudden at 8:40 and the MNGLA LKSDP EXP (?whatever that is) leaving also H Nizamudden at 9:50.
Also, the H Nizamudden station IS in Delhi, yes? Easy to get to?
Thank you! Any feedback is appreciated as I'm traveling with my daughter and wanting it to be as smooth as possible. Last year I took a car and driver to Agra, but it took SO LONG that I'd really rather take the train.

sseale,
What do you mean by "decent" ? Do you mean "fast" ? All Express trains are fast, some are faster than the others. The "Superfast" trains are the fastest and have right of way over Express trains.
The Samta Expres and the Mangala Lakshadweep Express are long distance trains and you have to find out whether you will be issued a ticket on these for the short distance from Delhi to Agra. Many long distance Expresses and Superfasts have distance restrictions on them, meaning tickets for these are issued for a certain minimum travellling distance.
I suggest you spend your first day at Delhi and take the next morning's Shatabdi Express to Agra. Its a wonderful train and I'm sure your daughter and yourself will love the experience.
Yes, the Hazrat Nizamuddin station is very much in Delhi - South Delhi; and is easily approachable.

Dear rangss,
Your observation:-
"One runs between Manmad and Mumbai CSTM (1403) in the Central Railway zone and the other runs between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam (7007)."
---------
@@@Of these two 7-Up/8-Dn Godavari Express was introduced in the year 1974 whereass the 1403/1404 came much later - a say 4 or 5 years ago. It is still a mystery as to why CR had copied Name that is already existing in SCR while fixing the Name to their (CR's) Train!!!
---------
@@@Another repetition is: Venkatadri Express but one exists in MG and the other in BG.
============================== ======
Dear Beach,
Is it possible for you to remove:-
i) The non-existing trains;
ii) Nicknames;
iii) Trains NOT used by the Passengers;
iv) Repetitions (**wherever applicable)
=============
Please refer to Sl.Nos.373,374,386,387,388,390 ,391,399,400 408, 409,414,415 etc.
