Actually, that would be a little tricky. God forbid, if there were to be an accident, then railways would find it difficult to clear insurance claims. Each ticket holder is insured during travel.

Your Head of Institution writes a letter to the Chief Reservation Supervisor at the nearest rail station mentioning the purpose, the list of students and/or teachers/supervisors and the station pair.

You take the same to the Reservation office and book your journey. I think you get 50% concession on fare and is applicable only to SL class. Because the group is large, you should book really early and choose trains that start their journey close to your boarding point to have any chance of getting accomodation on train.

Any link to that figure.

From here: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/conc_Rules.html

Students going to hometown and educational tours : -

-- General Category - -- 50% in 2nd and SL class

I have also used this when I was a student long back- it was 50%.

Don't know of changes yet.

Do I will also get any kind of form filled up by college. Actually my college gave me two copies of the same form. And told me to go to DRM office to seek permission from there. Is all these stuff necessary for reservation?

Yes, the college would provide you a completed form which would be required to be submitted along with the covering letter at the time of booking of tickets.

this is not necessary for usual reservation, but is necessary for bulk reservation where you are getting discounted fare.

You have no patience and you don't read the replies already given. This is a forum, not a chat site where you get instant replies/feedback. And all advice here is free, not paid for for you to demand an answer in 4 minutes of posting. Sorry, had to put it as it is.

The letter to DRM/CRS is either a standard form issued by the railways that your HOD fills or a simple letter on college letterhead as mentioned above. Generally both. A list of all passengers is also required. I suggest you make a trip to the Railway reservation office.

Kindly check this link. I had copy pasted this information from a zonal website in beginning 2011.

After cross-checking with TAAG 2011, it however appears that the concession percentage is still 50%.
