Kolkata to NJP on june 5th, all booked?
Ok. So arriving at 5am in Kolkata on june 5th we will try to skip up to Darjeeling asap. (same day hopefully)The only problem is, we arrive on a sunday, and we don't know if we will be able to get tickets. It seems that the trains are very booked and we don't know if the booking agencies are open on sundays!
So, should we book a room (expensive) and have the tickets sent there. Or, should we try to get the tickets at the trainstation (what time does it open?) Or, should we try to find an agent when we get there? Or if nothing else is working, can you hop on a train and pay for a ticket enroute. (any seat will do) Or will they toss you off in a shabby part of West Bengal and wish u best of luck! Help........! ![]() |

Hi there, Tok.
Whilst I am by no means an expert on this, I think it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get up to Darjeeling on the day you arrive in Kolkata. Even though there is a 9.00am train to NJP, it doesn't arrive until 19.30 - and it really would be unwise to take a jeep up into the hills until the next day. Not least, you would miss all the fabulous scenery. Why not spend the day in Kolkata, and then take the overnight train to NJP, getting the Toy train or a Jeep up to Darjeeling the following morning? That would save you 'an expensive hotel' in Kolkata, too. Hope this helps. |

As of now, berths are available in 2 AC in the Darjeeling Mail for June 5 !
Book your ticket on-line rightaway and have them delivered to your hotel.

thanks so much!
We are not planning to stay in Kolkata for the night, so sending the tickets to a hotel is out, but we will try and get train tickets on the same day. Hopefully this works, otherwise, we'll use e2ly buse. Thank for the hep! |

Hi Tok
I believe you can book tickets over the internet and then collect them yourself from Delhi station. |
