kalka-shimla shivalik express.

Hi folks,

I am thinking of taking the kalka-shimla shivali delux express which starts at 5.30 aM from kalka and reaches shimla by 10.15 AM.

Does this train always goes by time ( does it reach simla by 10.15 ? )

I am travelling beyond shimla..and need to get on to buses in shimla.. 30 mts delay is Ok for me.. But will there be a sgnificant delay ?

This train does not run late. But it is connected with Howrah-Delhi-Kalka Mail. If Kalka mail gets late, it will stand for it. Otherwise, normally it runs on time. Kalka Mail also has plenty of loose time after Delhi to make up if it goes late, when I travelled from Howrah, it ran two hours late in to Delhi, but gained time and reached Kalka on its scheduled time at 5 a.m.

Buses for Rohru leave at 11 am, Chandigarh-Goshali and at 1.15 pm, Jwalaji- Rohru. These buses leave from Rivoli bus stand and not from the main bus stand. Hire a cab from Shimla railway station to Rivoli Bus stand, approx 4 km distance and the charges will be around 100/ approx.

Breakfast is included in train fare in Shivalik Exp.

Happy travels in my state!

Double Thnaks

Thanks for the valuable information Vasuki.

Just some more calrifications.

1) If I take the shared taxi from kalka, will the guys drop me off at Rivoli bus station ? .. Is it on the way to Main bus station.

2) Also,I called up Simla Enquiry and they said there are regular buses to rohru.. 7.40 AM,8.40 AM,9.45 AM,10.30 aM,11.00 aM,12.45 PM,2.15 PM,3.00 PM and the last bus is at 5.30 PM.

Is this information correct ? ,How crowded are these buses..from your information,it looks like, the buses come from some other places, and just pass through simla..Will they get full,by the time they reach shimla..

I was assuming that, direct buses from simla available. Is it possible to get seats ? I am travelling from shimla to rohru on Sep 14th.

Shared taxis drop you at Main bus station. The Rivoli bus station is on the other route to main station.

Direct buses for Rohru are very few and one or two in morning. Else all are long distance one. Getting a seat is not a big problem, as most of these get empty at Shimla. You can get seats easily at the counter.

Thanks

Thanks a lot Vasuki,

In case,If I miss buses to rohru..Is there any other hop-on type journey options available..

Like Take a bus to Kharapathar and then take another bus to rohru

or

Take a bus to Narkanda and from Narkanda, take a taxi to rohru ..something like that.

Somehow,I need to be at Rohru by Sep-14th night.

Thanks,
