Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur... which train to take?
Hope the train experts around call help me on this one...
I'm going from Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore NP) on a Friday. I'll be checking out the hotel in Jaipur (somewhat outside town) spend the day in Jaipur and then head to the NP where I'll be spending the night before (hopefully) a morning/afternoon jeep safari. We are thinking of travelling 2A/3A but in a two hour journey we may end up seating in other classes to experience the environment. Which train do you guys think I should take considering train conditions (does any offer dinner, etc) and probability of it being delayed? So far availability appears to be ok apart from the 21:15 one which is already in WL. 1768 JP NAD FASTPASS 23:30 02:25 M T W TH F S SU 2182 DAYODAYA EXP 17:25 19:20 M T W TH F S SU 2968 JP MADRAS EXPRE 19:40 21:30 - - - - F - SU 2974 JP INDB EXPRESS 21:15 23:05 - - - - F - SU 2980 JP BDTS SUP EXP 20:40 22:35 M - W - F - - Thanks in advance! ![]() |

Whichever train you get you can check the average delay times on indiarailinfo.com.
The Dayodaya train looks like it originates from Jaipur which means it has less chance of being late leaving. It's timing means that you can sightsee all day, board the train, get to Ranthambhore, find your hotel and eat your evening meal there. It gets my vote. Bear in mind that it's an early start for morning safaris so you don't want to be arriving too late. You'll also probably have to sort out your morning safari paperwork with the hotel when you arrive so you don't want to be doing this at 2am. Restaurant food is likely to be better than any food you get on a train or at a station.
