I am trying to book the Mumbai Rajdhani (Del-Mumbai); however, the waiting list seems horrendously long (class 3A):
19- 7-2008 WL 140/WL 90 (3A) WL 84/WL 50 (2A) Is it even worth getting it? Also, if someone can kindly answer two of my following questions, I would much appreciate it: 1. On the payment gateways, I did not see any mention of regular Visa and Master cards, I have a citi Visa credit card, can I use it? 2. If I buy from the waiting list, and they give me RAC, would I get a reserved seat on the train? I am looking to book in 3A I am glad to have found such a website, and I have been reading and learning so much already from the posts and the stickies. Thank you for your replies in advance, babA Last edited by minkatheb : Jul 7th, 2008 at 19:06. Reason: made it more specific... |

Can't answer your other questions (am sure the answers will be in the same railway sub forum here, though) but those wait list numbers, I would not book.

That's a LOT of people on the waiting list. You need to book on trains REALLY early...
If your card is not an Indian credit/debit card, it may not work. Give it a try, but you may need to book in another way. Oftentimes hotel concierges can help you book tickets, as can travel agents. Or you can go to the rail station, but beware the touts/scammers. I had a guy once tell me that if I gave him 4000 Rs he would guarantee me a seat on the train. I walked out of his office faster than I walked in (I had a guaranteed seat anyway, just had to call the Indian Railways IVR to find out what my seat number was.) |

I'd book in 3A, but be ready to buy a tatkal ticket if needed.
I don't know how many 3A carriages there will be, but I'd be surprised if it was less than 6, and not surprised if it was 9+ as the train is a fully air conditioned train (so no Sleeper Class coaches) So that would be like a waitlist of at most 15 per carriage. I don't think they do RAC in Rajdhanis, so any cancellations and a waitlisted passenger goes direct to confirmed, so this makes the waitlist seem even shorter. Good luck.

Dear Steven,
In 2951/2952 and 2953/2954, there will be atleast 8 3AC Coaches. ----- In 2437/2438, there will be 10 3AC Coaches. |
