Perfectly secure in my book - I have frequently travelled in 1st AC with others, and absolutely no problem. Everyone just goes to sleep for the night.
Every cloud has a silver lining!

If it weren't secure, what alternative did you have in mind? It's the highest train class, on a par with air travel (price-wise at least).

Why not?

Joking aside, I don't think this is possible (to book yourselves empty seats. The TTE -- ticket examiner -- won't allow for it I don't think. And I'd be surprised if your fellow passengers would go for it.)

In any case and as noted, I'd say there's little if anything to worry about. Use your common sense, and you should be fine in any of the train classes.

Not secure how exactly? Without knowing your fears/concerns, how do we allay them?
As others have said, 1AC is very safe as is Indian train travel in general. Just chill, and enjoy your trip keeping basic safety tips in mind like one would for any sort of travel.

It depends on how many people together have booked tickets and the position in the train. In case of HA1, there is only one coupe and in H1 coaches, there are 3 coupes.

As regards security, it is totally secure as long as you want to know about the travel requirements, ie., if you have booked in 1A for comfortable travel purposes and not for "anything" else !Surprised that this question has come from an Indian

In ANY mass public transit system, you have to share space. You can't avoid it anywhere be it bus, train or flight. How far is the distance you are traveling? If the distance is not much, and your fiancee is so paranoid, you may consider driving in a hired/self-owned AC car. If the distance is too great, you can probably charter a flight.

In my opinion, other than being a boredom hazard, 1AC is perfectly safe. There are several threads on "Seat allocation woes in 1AC", like below:

Be it 1AC or Sleeper, a chartered flght or presidential suite. No coordinate in this world is 100% safe.Even statesmen, VVIPs gets assassinated despite having commandoes with them. One can only minimize the probability considering the partially true assumption wealthier people are well behaved. Its personal common sense and presence of mind that can avoid many untoward incidents. If there is nothing personal against you , why would anyone harass a couple whom they dont know. But if you flash your cash/ jewellery , it fuels the greed of certain people.

Well, love is beyond windows n boundaries. It is platform independent. I have noticed couples romancing in crowded public bus, unreserved train coaches, inside auto rickshaw, on bicycle, on a pleasant Kolkata winter, under scorchy mid afternoon Sun, in sub zero temperature....... everywhere.

Well the kind of crowd that travel in the first ac are either foreign tourists(not a rule though) or people whom you can call celebrities.
Unless a underworld don(who has the money) decides to travel in the first ac. I think you should be in the company of some decent people.
I am not so sure about the coach security,, that is in case of a robbery.
I had remembered one incident where a girl was being harassed by a police constable in the first ac. Fortunately a minister was travelling in First ac and the father of the girl reported the matter to the minister and quick action was taken.(the police constable must have lost his mind to mess with someone in the first ac).

There are normally at least two if not three railway personnel on the 1AC carriage - and the carriage doors are locked between stations, and between carriages so no one can walk through the carriage whilst train is travelling. The likelihood of anything untoward happening is very remote.

Passengers can also lock the coupe doors.

Anyways, abundance of money doesnt bring decency to one. I have met innumerous shockingly poor yet decent people, also met rude, uncultured, heartless millionaires. Just search internet most of the rapists, eveteasers, baddies come from richer strata of the society. Anyone can post a list of convicted incumbent ministers, MPs, MLAs, their equaly corrupt, uncultured kins, celebrity gangsters, smugglers, rapists, drug/arms dealers who travel in business class jets!! To be precise, wealthier people look decent. Take for example, only 26/11 surviving terrorist has baby face with fluency in English, able in all so called decent etiquettes. Yet, poor, poverty strcken, torn clad rickshaw puller often gets recognition for their honesty, bravery & integrity. While top notch VIP bureaucrats often caught by CBI for numerous scams, frauds.Money cant buy everything.

I think the subject of the topic is a bit questionable. Rather, it should be "Is 1st AC is comfortable/hasslefree?"Dont take any offence, I would like to ask Ashwin,"Your name suggests you are Indian. If yes is it your/your fiancee's first rail journey?Consider your fiancée is also Indian, your apprehension rather sound like a foreigner who are new to this country."

AC1 shall have 1-2 2-berth compartments. Did anyone try it and what's the best chance to get assigned to the 2-berth, instead of 4-berth?
