:: IRCTC :: - Registration
Hello,
My husband and I are planning our honeymoon in India on a limited time frame. We're considering using both air travel and rail. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble registering with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (http://www.irctc.co.in/). This is really frustrating, as India rail travel is something I'd like to reserve and am especially looking forward to experiencing. I believe I am completing and filling in all the requested and prescribed fields. However, when I attempt "submit" to create a new user identity, I keep receiving this error pop-up message, "Enter Value Either one of the fields". This is probably a very basic field or problem I'm overlooking, but if anyone could provide guidance that would be most appreciated. Also, if it helps, I am not a citizen of India and am entering my country / city of origin manually. Also, I'm using Safari (Mac). Does it help to use Firefox, instead? Thanks in advance! |

I have recently started using Opera as a browser and find that some sites do not work properly unless I use internet explorer.
Maybe Safari has similar problems. I would try firefox - or internet explorer- if I could. PS: from the registration page of Indian railways Quote:

You must have entered 5 digits PIN code (as in U.S). Try to give 6 digits code with an Indian Address (could be relative or some freind's) - definitely it will solve your problem, I believe.
If not, send me your particulars I will get it registered and pass it on to you. Once you could log-in you may change password later ![]() If you are OK then I will give my email id... Just see your convenience & comfortness |

As Jayanna says it might be a problem due to the PIN Code. Go thorugh this sticky post of beach. it clearly explains the issues.
Booking rail tickets from abroad- a Beginner's Guide Dirk, you can also book train tickets through cleartrip.com or makemytrip.com where the registration should be fairly simple. |

DirkTD,
As Arun said, you may want to take a look at Makemytrip.com, which is now offering the Railways ticket booking thorugh them (they are agents for IR). Some more details here in my earlier post (a post in the thread mentioned above by Arun). However, I am not sure if a non-Indian can buy as per T&C of MMT - as the MMT site for USA does not have Railway ticket booking option. You may choose to explore. Let us know how it goes at last, and Happy honeymoon! @Arun, thanks for the Cleartrip diresction, I wasn't aware of that.
