IRCTC not working since yesterday

I cannot connect to IRCTC website, since yesterday morning I get a frustrating "this page cannot be opened".
I have booked and cancelled tickets in the last weeks without any problem.
Is someone else experiencing such problem, or is it related to my PC or browser?

Could be any number of reasons. http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/ looks to be currently working for me, but I didn't try to book or anything. I think the site just went through an overhaul and had an address change so this might explain something. http://www.indianrail.gov.in/ seems to work as well though.

The site also only seems to work during Indian business hours so this may cause you trouble.

another member has been having difficulty as well and i offered to try from my computer with my credit card, as that seemed to be the sticking point. all went smoothly, and the e-ticket appeared to be confirmed, but then when i tried to print the e-ticket, there was no history of the transaction. actually, i think the problem was not THE system, but MY brain system. had i scrolled down, i probably would have seen one more step to finalize the transaction. (that'll teach me to self-congratulate prematurely!) working through a second time, though, i got a series of fatal messages, including a "communication failure" message.

my guess is that the site's a bit squirrelly to begin with, perhaps due to volume, the change-over discussed above or, as mach notes, the site may be at the end of its available indian workday.

i'm going to keep trying, even if i have to wait until it reopens and jump in before the traffic is up. my "almost" success leaves me optimistic for her and i at least seem to be getting farther ahead in the booking process than she had. if at first you don't succeed, and all that...

This is much-reported yes. I don't know, I never used it for actual booking. It's probably a good introduction to India and the patience sometimes required Imagine (or remember) what banks were like before the advent of computers.

all well that end's well, as least for her. best of luck to those still trying.

Yes, everything worked perfectly now!

I booked three e-tickets in ten minutes... really a good introduction to India!

my pleasure, palais. it was painful to witness your frustration! and, as an added bonus, it was a fortuitous excuse to shamelessly procrastinate still longer at work on a woefully unattractive project.

let me know if you can't access/print the e-ticket and we'll figure out a way to meet before you leave so i can give you the one i printed.
