Irctc Booking: Icici Bank Debit Card
Irctc Booking: Icici Bank Debit Card
Hello friends!
I was just wondering,if anyone of you knows why I am not getting the option of ICICI BANK/HDFC BANK etc. under the "Payment by Direct Debit" option, while I try to choose the proper payment option suitable for me, to book Indian Railways ticket through IRCTC site.
By the way,I had already booked tickets using my ICICI Bank debit card sometime back and ICICI Bank direct debit is mentioned under the list of Transaction Charges list of Banks even now ,so I am sure there must be some mistakes somewhere.
It would be nice if someone could advice what should I do to carry out proper transactions using my ICICI Direct debit for Indian Railways ticket bookings.
Thanking you all in advance and hoping to hear from some of you

Soledad's query on the disappearance of HDFC bank's name from the Railway direct payment list is a 100% fact. Having seen the problem myself, I contacted HDFC call centre in Mumbai and they apparently did not disclose anything about it except to ask me to contact the Railways!! The railway (IRCTC)call centre simply kept on asking me to use the HDFC credit card in any other bank's portal. He did not even know there was a problem at the customer's end, rather did not try to understand the problem himself.
Looks like the Bank and IRCTC are having a fight and customers are at their mercy.
We will have to migrate to another bank, looks like.
When the railways rate HDFC bank as one of the best in their list, why have they removed the same bank from the list? Wonder if anybody knows the inner problem?

Well,I am glad to know that I am not the only one who had been at the receiving end of this issue. Actually,I have noticed that the name of ICICI Bank & HDFC bank comes and goes in the list of IRCTC payment gateways, and right at this very moment, both are out of their list for the past 3 days. And I have been forced to use other Banks to book my tickets, and I have personally found Corporation Bank,State Bank of India [SBI] and Axis Bank to be some of the stable banks for IRCTC services as of now.
Hope the problem with ICICI Bank & HDFC Bank would be solved soon.

Gosh i didnt know about that .It was ok when i booked tickets on aug 6.i did it by hdfc direct debit facility.
You can use any credit cards, the payment gateway and credit card you use have no connection. I use a visa card and always have to fiddle around with different gateways to get it to work. IRCTC is pretty good about crediting your card if the transaction fails after the mone is already charged. I guess the railways user interface is designed by old fashioned sw engineers (ie not user experience experts). Gateway does not be need to be disclosed. Smartly designed software should check the gateway health and chose the appropriate one without having the user chose one.
