IRCT Transaction successful but no tickets!!

Question IRCT Transaction successful but no tickets!!

hey, i just booked 3AC tickets, it showed a confirmation with the bank transaction number and said that it will take a moment to transfer the confirmation to IRCTC but that page did not change for 30 minutes. CHecked bank account, money was gone. check mail, no confirmation came through. Checked IRCTC account under booked history, this latest transaction is not there. What gives!! What do I do? I sent an email to both, bank and IRCTC but is this usual?

I don't know; I've had it (at an Indian travel agent; and so at his risk, no payments made on my part yet at that point. Well, except I really and desperately wanted that ride) for the server to become unresponsive & so not come up with the final confirmation for a while.

So could be you'll just have to hold your breath for a little bit longer... They have a (very) good reputation for automatic refunds in case of faulty transactions btw; I don't think you have much to worry about in that respect. But I understand it would be nice to see the whole thing booked through & the ticket in hand.

If that page hasn't changed at all for 30 minutes like you say, my guess would be there's a good chance the system is hanging indeed, so I wouldn't panic just yet. Needless to say, the ticket will only come through once the whole thing has been processed.

Yes; or rather from the description I'd say there's a very good chance those tickets have in fact been booked. Now it's just a matter of waiting for them to be duly processed.

How long for, one might now ask; no idea really, shouldn't normally take a full day I don't think (couple of hours at the most rather), and I'd start pulling some chains if it did.

Note that server goes to sleep for a few hours in the Indian (very late) nighttime btw I think. Not sure how that reflects on pending transactions. Sunday afternoon till Monday morning IST might well prove to be another of those off-points, from what I hear.

Have had the same problem a few times too. You will get an automatic refund from irctc but this can take a few days.

Try to book the tickets again.

i received a personalized reply in less than 12 hours, wow. they told that the booking did not go through but the refund may take a few days. that's fine as long as i see that they have acknowledge the issue. this is great service. now, i can confidently book another ticket.

great, all the more impressed with irctc. a fair organization, quick and admits mistakes and truly, an organization for the masses.

Good to hear . I have booked my tickets online dozens of time and there's only been 1 instance when the booking didn't go through.

I rebooked & the refund came through in about 3 working days.
