Hallo IR Gurus,
...after 4-5 months I received a refund cheque from IR (actually the north/south goan rail company - i don't have the cheque to hand right now).
The only problem is my name is spelled incorrectly and I don't have a bank account in india - I had asked that the cheque be made payable to a friend who does have an account.
How best to proceed?

Is it a crossed cheque?

I assume it will be a crossed cheque.

When I put the stamp on the envelope to send off the claim, people openly questioned my sanity.
I have to admit I was quite startled to recieve the cheque.
To actually try to cash it would be taking things a bit far.
So the thought of framing it had also crossed my mind.
But I hadn't realised quite what a rare animal this is - maybe a safe deposit box would be better.
