There are reports in the local papers that Australian firms are outsourcing software development to India.
If the Indiarail.gov.in site is an example of Indian software, I don't think we programmers have much to worry about!

Colin, the site is slow - but at least the information seems to be correct!! ....and I do not hope that we are starting now discussions about a certain word starting with r...., let this privilege stay with LP TT.

Hi Archits

nice to have you back here... but isn't this boomerang thing a little bit outdated???
Otherwise LOOPS might be the answer - excitement for certain seconds??
Colin - before you meet this guy Archits in the South - drop in here! (Forgive me Archits! - but you know - I am not "Smart Sally").
Sorry for this different language.. I am still the same!

Wink Thanks...

Thanks Archits for jumping in, when I first got notification of Gerlinde's comments and figured out what she means by the 'r' word I had all sorts of acid replies. But in the end I came up with 'Its just one computer programmer commenting on the work of another computer programmer'.

Looks like I will be landing in Calcutta, up to Bod Gaya to meet a friend (a lady) then across to Gawahati to meet Mr & Mrs Alan_D for a bit of birdwatching.

Ahhh India, always exciting, never dull!!

Hi Colin,
do not think that I do not understand what you mean...
Happy bird watching, are you going to the Eco Camp? Nice place.

hi to two friends

Gerlinde , you are working very hard - you need to join Colin at his holiday , though I figure going to your own resort in another ten days or less should be infinitely more exciting.

Colin , try the railway site around seven to nine in the morning , our time. Your evening. Should do well. And yes, it is very accurate - that is its USP.

I could not find a mail id to talk to anyone. If you get at someone behind the site to convey your heartfelt appreciation do convey some of mine - these guys could give the entire reservation chart of all classes for a whole month or fifteen days at least in one screen itself. Today one has to needlessly navigate back and forth.

Colin, you did not give me the email id of the last girl you said was nice , so remember to send me this one and kindly do not tell her I programmed the railway website.

Cheers !

Smile Archits

A nice one! - hope you get the email of the nice girl!
Yes, I am heading to my son on Friday already..TG 316 22.00 - reaching Bangkok around 3 a clock - and then till 29. NO PROBLEM! No Indian Rails, no cancelled flight from Kathmandu to Varanasi (like today)- only beach and views! But I booked a return ticket! Anybody interested in buying my company????

Gerlinde, I am sure there will be many people prepared to pay for your company in BKK but be warned, Thai girls are georgeous and the competition is fierce! If you are still there on the 3rd Jan maybe we can negotiate a deal....

Archits, Thanks for the tip, I will try the site tonight and see if I can get to perform. The errors I got looked to me like database access exceptions so trying the site when it is quiet might solve the problem.
No. I refuse to give you my ladyfriend's address, competition I don't need!

I am trying to get quotes for Bangkok-Calcutta flights, I have eMailed three agents in Bangkok but to date, no reples. I might end up waiting until I get to BKK as previous but with my luck I will get stuck there, no ladyfriend, no birdwatching!!

The agents I have tried are : Chawla Travels, BlueNwhite and another recommended here whose name I don't recall (filled in their site page).

Looking forward to a decent chai...

not the Thailand company...

Colin, you misunderstood - it's not the new Thai company my son formed to run a budget resort at Koh Samui, it's my Indian company I want to give "to good hands"...
